It's been 95 degrees here in SoCal. My GPU's have been shut down most of the day due to no A/C. Anybody else shut down because of the heat wave? Supposed to cool down the next couple of days, I need to move to the beach tho!

I finally piped the waste heat from a couple of WC'd 6990's out the front window. It's kind of a ugly contraption, but those are in my main rig and in an upstairs room, so it got wicked hot in that room. Now with the A/C it's cool as a cucumber. I'll deal with the ugly ducting to keep the room at a comfortable temp and not 95 - 100 degrees with the AC and fan on!

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place.

I would like to see pics of that. I have a Holmes window fan with twin 12" fans that is constantly on high, but it's still 85 degrees in here. Ducting directly from the cards would be the next step I guess, without buying a window A/C.

Yeah, it hit 70'F this weekend outside, and my room was getting to be 75. So I had to open the windows. Problem fixed. Living in Maine is awesome.

Temps here in IL were near 90 the past couple of days with a heat index in the mid-90's. I had to downclock my 3x6970 rig to 840 core to maintain sub 80C temps. At night, I can crank it back up to stock.

Mid 80s here. My rigs are doing fine.. in the basement. At night I open the windows to let it cool down. In the morning, I close 'em up. If it gets too hot, the AC gets kicked on, and far too much of it ends up downstairs, which is very convenient for mining. 5870s running between 60-70 at 40-60%, 7870s running high 70s, low 80s at 50% rpm. All OC'd too. M

Most of my family is from Maine. Its been about 80 degrees in my area, I have A.C, but I don't turn it on until June, when it starts hitting 100.

Belfast, Camden, Rockland to name a few of the more popular towns in the Midcoast area.

Ah cool, yeah, we are from a bit further northeast. I have family that lives in Eastport, and when we go up to visit them, we stop in Belfast at Young's Lobster pound. That's our last lobster of the trip, after swallowing our initial 100 lbs from the days before.

I just saw your other thread about wanting to buy BTC with amazon codes, cards, etc. If you are ever going to visit the area again sometime, give me a heads up and we could meetup in some public place to do business. I am a miner, so I always have some excess BTC to sell off.

As a miner who lives in Florida, I don't want to hear shit from you all about your A/C and how hot it is getting. I've been down-clocked/volted and venting to the exterior for two months already. Bite my ass.

Low 90's here in Texas where I'm at. I've got all but one of my cards in one room (5x5970, 2x5870, 3x5830) and only undervolt the 5830's. The room is sealed off w/ some special foam junk & I have some industrial fan (120watts) blowing air in from the window (and sealed off any area on the bottom that the fan wasn't occupying) & venting out the top (window opens both ways). The top is only open about 6", any more and it'd be less efficient. It passed the, uh, paper test, where I drop a piece of paper and it gets sucked in and sticks to the screen.
Ambient in there is probably 5oF over whatever it is outside. So, maybe, 95o during the day. I also have floor fans blowing into each of my computers. Electricity is only ~.085c per kwh, though.

I wish my electricity was 0.085 in Houston. Where do you live?
But yeah I have pretty much the same cooling setup for the room, except without the foam. And ambient here seems to be more like 10-15F above external. Good thing I run water cooling so none of my cards throttle.
The 3x5830s in the garage with a huge 120mm fan blowing on it gets to 88C!

Near Chandler, Tx. I'm actually in a commune area, so can't choose my own electricity provider.... if I could, there are some options out there that are cheaper than .085c... and to be honest, it was just .085c "adjusted" last month. They charge 10.5c standard, but they always have some adjustment downwards in the next bill. The last 3 months it's been 2c, 1.5c, 1.5c (but then prior to that there were a few 1c, .05c, etc.) It's probably more like .0925c on average, I guess.. You should check out: http://www.powertochoose.org/_content/_compare/compare.aspxIf you're not saddled with some commune, you should be able to get rates under .10c, at least... The humidity in Houston would be killer, yeah, that'd be harder to keep the ambient down.. (and I just checked a few Houston zips, like the same companies are offering the same plans for 1-2c more.... but for Pasadena zip 77503 at least, you have some 8.7c fixed option) (and another edit, it's 90o outside and my 3x5830 (sapphire extremes) are at 66o with card fan at 65%.... floor fan blowing into case.... but i have them set to 1.063v instead of 1.163v.... @ 920core/195memory, it's ~293mhash/s.... at night I set them to 990/195 1.163v and they get about ~325mhash/s... not a huge diff)

Got over 90 deg this last weekend in Michigan before it stormed on Sunday, I have 1800 of my 2450 Mh/s in the garage and 1500 of that is on an open air rig with a 20" box fan blowing over it. Even with those temps outside I managed to keep all GPU temps below 75C until the temp dropped Sunday night. Now they are running sub 65C, with one at 55.5C. The lowest one is on an extender sitting on a box directly in front of the fan, the rest of the rig is mounted on a piece of 3/8" plexiglass that is mounted vertically (I really need to take some pictures)
I still have a 5970 to add to my rigs, but it came with a watercooler so I need to get that set up first. (Also got a steal on the WC pump and rad)
I did the AC thing in the room last year, got to be a bit silly and expensive.
