Any of you guys heard of Startup Weekend? It's a thing where a bunch of teams have to think of a startup business idea, and they compete to see whose is best. This year, winners from each city will go on to a global competition.
Although the Vancouver scene is usually pretty competitive, we've banded together to form a Bitcoin Block for sponsorship. You can see us listed
here. Any BTC sent to 19ZsPXZGZXSkQ6yTqJqWKfSrLRQjy6TNNg will be included in our block's sponsorship total, giving more visibility to Bitcoin and any participating companies or organizations.
We'll also be participating directly in Startup Weekend Vancouver in many ways. Several of us will be mentors, and a panel of Bitcoin judges will decide the team who best uses decentralized technology to be rewarded with BTC. Many more of us will be on-site to provide BTC incentives to teams we see engaging decentralized technology earnestly.
There's also going to a Bitcoin bar, where you can buy beer with Bitcoin via the CoinOS POS. Participants are being given pre-loaded wallets before the event, so there's a little free beer in it for them to learn how it works. All of the BTC spent at the bar will be put into a pot, then given away via a random draw from those who used the bar.
