Maybe as a "newbie jail replacement" newbies should be required to answer a random question about the forum rules for each posting they write? After 100 postings they'd know the rules by heart Onkel Paul Very interesting rule , I hope theymos will add this feature in the new forum software.

No.
It's more of a scavenger hunt for account farmers, bots, one-liner-newbies, Dank, scammers, Joey, and pretty much anyone else. Everyone on Bitcointalk has done it. It's the initiation.
What - do you think your rank doesn't matter unless you're joining a signature campaign, selling something, or getting a loan? Silly low levels.
Your conclusion (about me) is wrong and your words are... not nice. If you read up, I was surprised to get to Full Member. Of course, I took the opportunity, and I see you did that too. My posts were driven by common sense and from what you can see, I didn't do really bad. Actually my interest for the rules became high since a few weeks ago, but the reason is that I've got message that one of my posts was removed. And then (yes, only then) I thought that I should really read the rules, which where hard to find. But yeah, ... actually ... you can believe what you want, it's a free world. Please allow me to direct you to our sarcasm department. Yes, Sir, I am your cookie to the Internet world. Over there is Reddit, HF, and you know the usual- Why, no Sir, please do not go over there. That's were WF resides. Let's go on an adventure: ---- On a serious note, I was just being sarcastic. It wasn't a conclusion, at all. I guess there's too many trolls being fed on the forums now. Gotta get my bucket of grub.

why im still full member?!
You should be banned. Most of your posts are useless one line garbage posts. And who decides what posts are garbage and what posts aren't? I don't like other users making that decision for me. The internet is supposed to be about liberation and freedom.

Mods and admins. I don't like other users making that decision for me.
There are other Bitcoin forums. The internet is supposed to be about liberation and freedom.
Sure. Part of that is freedom to set any rules one wants.

I know I sound like a broken record but this is why account selling should be banned. The account sellers are like the squeegee men in NYC that Rudy Giuliani was famed for cleaning up. He put an end to the squeegee men which caused a cascade of events that led to a lot of street and midlevel crime being cleaned up, and there was a direct correlation between his simple actions and the reduction of crime in New York City. You clean up the account sellers, with it go the signature hounds, the HYIP and Ponzi aritsts, some massive pumps and shitcoin schemes, organized FUDding, etc. And who decides what posts are garbage and what posts aren't? I don't like other users making that decision for me. The internet is supposed to be about liberation and freedom.
Well, the simplicity, randomness and lack of intellect in the majority of your posts reflect that you are trying to meet quotas for a signature campaign. When you're not doing that you're promoting a Ponzi scheme. I would vote that your posts are garbage, too, because your motivation for writing is financial and not out of your need to express your opinion. Regardless, liberation and freedom aren't guaranteed here.

You do sound like a broken record and I still don't understand how you're not getting it. How would banning the sale of accounts stop any of the above? It wouldn't even make a dent.

When I said "I", I was expressing individualism, I was not literally talking about myself, neither was the guy who originally said "Your posts are garbage", because he wasn't talking to me, he was talking to someone else. Please follow the thread properly. Oh and, I hear the signature campaign thing a lot, it's the equivalent of calling everyone a "troll" for disagreeing with you. Well here's a surprise for you honey, my campaign pays a fixed 1.5mBTC per day, and that rate does not go up or down based on how many posts I make, it's constant. Also, talking about me promoting a Ponzi is quite the Ad Hominem attack.

More than happy. Judging by the content of many of his posts, this thread was likely started by a guy who is trying to obtain Senior Member status for the sake of selling his account. After a second look I admit there's a chance that he just wants more BTC revenue from signature campaigns but there is additional incentive to become a Senior Member knowing those accounts sell for a higher price than Full Members. So people go out of their way to artificially inflate their activity because there is increased demand for these types of accounts, for reasons unrelated to the promotion of bitcoin, cryptocurrency and the general welfare of the community. And it creates clutter / spam. By removing posts mentioning WTS/WTB accounts it definitely makes it harder to sell accounts. I give you the fact you will not be able to stop the problem in its tracks, but you have to first be willing to admit its a problem.

Except there's no logic in any of that. Banning account sales won't make it stop, as you explained, and there's no evidence to suggest he wanted to sell it. The majority of people who ask about activity here just want to know when they can earn some more money via their signature.

But why allow it at all? Right, I said it won't stop but it will slow down. How are you gonna buy an account here if you don't know who's selling them? This place is a hub. Its a meeting place where people exchange thoughts and ideas. If you have to look outside the forum to purchase an account (or just randomly PM people until somebody wants to sell you an account), it will make it significantly harder to obtain one. Why would it not? The fact that account selling exists creates tons of artificial posts that simply serve as spam and clutter. This could be reduced by at least a fraction if account selling weren't tolerated here. Bitcointalk accounts simply wouldn't have as much value, and people wouldn't be in a rush to become Senior Members. I suppose I can see how that doesn't sound good. But the real value of the account shouldn't be financial, it should be intellectual. edit: a lot of crimes can't be stopped from happening too, that doesn't mean we should give up trying to stop them.

Yawn. I've lost count of how many times I and others have explained this to you. We allow it because it won't make any difference whether it is or isn't allowed. You seem to think banning will solve something but it wont at all. Banning account sales will not make one bit of difference to how many accounts are farmed or are sold because it will still happen, just out of your sight. Will that make you feel more comfortable with your false sense of security? People will just sell them via blogs or websites and then this will probably just create more problems and more scams. At least you can use escrow here and ensure a safe transaction. Any rational, intelligent person knows that prohibition doesn't work. Is it incredibly difficult to buy drugs either online or in the real world because they're illegal? No. Most people can probably buy drugs on or offline within thirty minutes. And selling forum accounts isn't a crime or illegal, as much as you wish it was.

Exactly. At first I left negative trust to anyone that was buying/selling accounts. It didn't make any kind of difference.

Whatever. I can't believe you don't even want to try. It makes zero sense. There's a lot of behavior that is banned on this forum. Why not also ban account selling? If its possible to delete posts because they contain bitcoin addresses, it should be possible to delete posts attempting to buy or sell accounts. Its that simple. I'll let you have the final word.

Because you don't know how to search or read stickies.
I am not 100% sure how the ranking system worked in 2011 however there is at least one instance when someone demanded to be promoted to Junior member. Please, i respectfully demand being appointed as a full member.
You see, i am one of the oldest members. I saw the potential of bitcoin from the start, i stayed up restless in my bed in 2009, thinking of the libertarian utopia that would await us. And i made an account here. So it began. And i made topics. However, now i have unfortunately been subject to newbie treatment, which is perhaps unjust, i would recommend you reconsider this.
I found the post in this thread.

One of the nicer take downs that applies to a lot of posts on this board. Maybe require at least a click through page of "how things work" during the account registration process?
