Not really. If you processed the order all at once, you'll see that he had to reduce the 2.5 part to 2 simply because of lack of slots.
He was basically stating what the current state of his bids were. From what I understood, he could have just placed an additional bid for one slot at 4 BTC and accomplished the same thing.
