But the auction says "Auction end: 31 of may 2012 at midnight eastern time."

But 12:00:59 is still Midnight. So the question is, is the cutoff 11:59:59 or 12:00:59?

Typically it's when the clock hits 12:00:00, tho I would personally give it to lolwut. Tough call...

May I ask why?

Because 12:00:59 is still 12 12:01:00. Its like if someone said it was One Oclock (1:00:00), it might be one oclock with 30 seconds (1:00:30), but its still considered one (1:00:00) until it becomes 1:01:00

EDIT Wikipedia Definition:

"It is not always clear what times "12:00 a.m." and "12:00 p.m." denote. From the Latin words meridies (midday), ante (before) and post (after), the term ante meridiem (a.m.) means before midday and post meridiem (p.m.) means after midday. Since strictly speaking "noon" (midday) is neither before nor after itself, the terms a.m. and p.m. do not apply. However, since 12:01 p.m. is after noon, it is common to extend this usage for 12:00 p.m. to denote noon. That leaves 12:00 a.m. to be used for midnight at the beginning of the day, continuing to 12.01 a.m. that same day."

My unbiased opinion:

The OP states the auction ends "at midnight."

The word "at" suggests that as soon as it is midnight, the auction ends.  This would imply 00:00:00 and not 00:00:59.  If a 5k race is run, the finish line is at 5k, and not 5.999k.

I think the 127 bid wins.

He himself aknowleged that he was beaten, when he told me to suck his. Then after he read your comment, deleted his post.

Love not so much, I just like to cause controversy.

I'm said previously, it can be viewed either way, its open to interpretation from both ways, so I guess its up to the OP to decide.

You could say its a finish line point, but the definition of midnight depends on who is talking. Are we talking by the end of Midnight which ends at 12:01 or as soon as it is considered Midnight 12:00?

I mean whoever wins wins, I didn't win so it doesn't effect me much, but I find this interesting.

That is OK, who doesn't like a bit of controversy? It was an entertaining auction indeed.

Wait, so did it end yesterday? I was just trying to be annoying, but now I'm confused.

Less than 24 hours left.

This was the first post after the cutoff date, so the actual bid would be 100 BTC. Yay even more confusion.

Lol well, that depends.

Midnight of the 31st would technically mean 12:00 a.m on the 31st, not 12:00 a.m. on June 1st...which would suggest that the auction technically ended over 24 hours ago.

Edit:  For the record, I think I started all the paranoia and scrutiny of the language used in auction/contest threads, so I feel I should just go balls to the wall and impart comments in all threads where such scrutiny exists  Grin

Obviously the seller is going to want the most amount of money out of the transaction, since the issue is up in the air, they will most likely side with the method of getting the most BTC, but I guess its open to how they interpret it. I'm just going to put this here for back reference.

I'm selling my mining rig. 1350MH/s stock ---> 1650MH/s OC. I've been mining since the 18 of april 2012. I'm including 5 PCIe extenders and 2 USB sticks with BAMT.

Bought brand new:
AMD Athlon II X3 unlockable to Phenom X4 with a push of a button in BIOS
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
XFX PRO1250W 80PLUS Gold PSU
4GB Kingston ValueRAM

Used GPU:
5770
5830 X2
5850
5870

The reason why I'm selling is that I received a business opportunity that I can't decline and I will be leaving my country for a while. It's too much expensive/slow to ship it where I'm going. I'm also considering switching to FPGA.

I can provide further proof like NCIX invoice. I don't mind to escrow if you feel more secure. Shipping to US/Canada included in the price. I can possibly ship somewhere else but it may cost an extra.

Shipping is from Montreal/Canada. We can meet in person if you're from that area.

Auction starting bid: 1 BTC
Auction end: 31 of may 2012 at midnight eastern time.

EDIT1:

When the deal is concluded I will donate 68 BTC:

50 BTC to the forum
7 BTC to BAMT
3 BTC to Phoenix2
3 BTC to CGminer
3 BTC to P2Pool
2 BTC to mc_lovin for his personal help

EDIT2:

I can accept mtgox weighted average in US or CAN $ at auction end.

You can pay via RBC bank transfer, Skrill (verified member only) or WU/MoneyGram.

I will personally buy back the BTC needed for donations.

Thank you for showing interest!
