Altcoins like this are good news as everyone comes back to bitcoin in the end.  Only other coin with a tiny bit of staying power seems to be litecoin.

The point is, this was posted by a popular college humour site and appeared on my facebook newsfeed, and a lot of people knew what bitcoin was, if you look in the comments, bitcoin is not something unheard of, its just not used as much as it is known or heard of, if everyone who knew about bitcoin started using it the price would sky rocket, and the goal of widespread adoption would be achieved
