Pot is obviously illegal for the money/profits to be made, but it's also certainly for control over certain demographics as well.

If pot was legal it will be a threat to the clothing farming and oil industries. Goverments are hand in hand with oil companies so pot will level really be legal.

I just want to point out that industrial hemp is in many places legal to grow. So that's not really a reason to why pot should be legalized.

Think the way it's going weed should hopefully be legalized in the next couple of years. Plenty of states in the US where you can buy it, even Big Tobacco are trying to get into the dope industry.

Because potheads are some of the dumbest people I've ever met?
but what about LSD? it's even worse!!! Oh yeah, watch out for that LSD! It's less toxic than vitamin c! It's was used by scientists whom discovered the double helix structure of DNA during their trip! Scary! And of course never touch a marijuana. Marijuana has never killed a single person. It promotes brain cell growth and triggers apoptosis (cell death) in cancerous cells. You don't want to use a safe and effective medicine, now do you? How would we have a trillion dollar pharmaceutical industry if people could grow a cure their self? And let's not forget hemp has the capacity to completely replace the oil industry by producing more biomass than any other plant. And hemp leaves a negative carbon footprint when used as fuel, as hemp absorbs more co2 then it emits as a fuel. Now we don't want clean air, now do we? Remember people, alcohol is good. It kills 150,000 people a year, that's almost a world record next to tobacco! Yay records! And it's legal, so it must be good for you. The government would never legalize harmful substances to perpetuate population control and demonize helpful substances that take away the status quo's power. They're your friend!

I personally hope non-medicinal drugs(this includes pot while I know it has medicinal use) to remain banned and/or regulated.
You see, what will happen is. It's not legal, people fight the system, they make it legal, drugs used every day causing all sorts of accidents, bunch of drug addicts now start openly asking people to do drugs, later on forcing them. Then you have a society that forces you to take drugs or you go to jail.

You should research Portugal'a drug policy. In 2006, they decriminalized all drugs as they were faced with a heroin epidemic. Since then , drug related deaths cut in half, use of hard drugs such as cocaine and heroine cut in half and drug use amongst minors notably cut in half. All prohibition does is put billions of dollars into the hands of criminals, many of whom have little regard if their product is safe or being used by minors. And even in a more basic right as a human being, you should have control over what goes on your body and no one else. It is your life, your body and your mind. And today it is legal and acceptable for doctors to force drugs with an extremely acute neurotoxicity into non violent patients, against their will. Antipsychotics literally fry receptors and shrink your brain, they are worse for you than heroin.

pot is high in medicinal value, and i think the pharmaceutical industry sees it as a threat (as an alternative to certain drugs that they use).
it's also a schedule 1 drug because the nixon administration wanted to take down the hippies.

I think all drugs should be lagal for adults, even the hard ones. Why not? Some people are addicted to energy drinks or coffee and have the right to be, so addiction is not a problem here. What is then?
