Malaysian Taxi Customers Can Now Pay with Bitcoin

http://www.coindesk.com/malaysian-taxi-customers-can-now-pay-bitcoin/

Taxi passengers in the Malaysian cities of Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru can now pay for their rides in bitcoin, thanks to a booking service called Taximonger.

Bitcoin Malaysia reported that it believes Taximonger offers the first opportunity for Asian taxi customers to use bitcoin, adding that for Malaysia it also represents the first cashless payment system for cabs, a long overdue addition.

More and more merchants are accepting bitcoin. Bitcoin as a way of payment method is increasingly raising the awareness of public. But the problem is that ppl have no incentive to buy and spend bitcoin. Now there need be some kind of trigger to push ppl to adopt it.

The possibility of bitcoin as an investment is still an incentive. Sure it hasn't been doing to well recently but we all know that could change in the future.

It's not that they don't have incentive. The problem is the bottleneck of buying bitcoins. Bitcoin is the best online payment method especially for merchants. Meechants will understand that sooner or later and they 'll start offering discounts for bitcoin purchases.

I can't imagine many people wanting to pay for taxis with bitcoin in Malaysia at the moment, but I'm glad the infrastructure is there to be used if people want. We need more of this kind of adoption put in place for the success of btc around the world.

Singapore - Malaysia region is turning out to be the Bitcoin capital of Asia. With encouraging news coming out from there every now and then, I believe they have the potential to overtake Vancouver.  Grin
