just create wallet on exchanger to send and received btc.
It's not safe. If the excahnge goes, your money goes. If it was hacked, your money will also goes. You have seen the recent Bitstamp incident. If you really want to use an online wallet, use Blockchain.info or coinbase.

Finally someone who use common sense , Exchangers will get you screwed eventually either they get hacked or they made an inside job and says they got hacked. for scenarios = you lose your Bitcoin.
