There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Scammed by Gabriellz9. I sent the bitcoins, he never sent the money and is no longer responding to my messages (even though he has been online on these forums several times).

You are most likely not getting your money back Undecided. You may want to add evidence to that thread.

Yeah, terribly dumb of me to not look up his name at all, but I was pretty desperate to get the money before the end of the day. Had a payment deadline (which I've now missed) and I hoped to sell bitcoins as a last resort.
