One other factor to consider...

If one is running their cards that hot, they are more than likely over volting considerably to achieve some insane overclocks.....

Unless you are somehow getting free electric, you are going to be paying DEARLY for those extra mega hashes.

There comes a point where one will hit a wall where the voltage needed to achieve more overclock will start to steeply increase the wattage required.

Ones income will actually decrease in relation to their electric bill on top of putting that GPU to an early grave.

A kill-a-watt meter is one of the best $20-$30 investments you can make in a mining venture.   Smiley

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

for the record,

the fans I ordered came from:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/280800583937

Ordered two on Saturday, got them on Tuesday (!!)...

I know at least the one is working (already replaced the "mostly-busted" fan).  I assume the second will, too... probably will order another 4 or 5 from that guy.  Most of the other ppl ship from China.

Running fans at 100% is actually recommended. Gives more air cooling to the bearings so less likely to break or deteriorate Wink

It took me a sec, but I caught the sarcasm. In case anyone else didn't, running fans > 80% has no benefit besides guaranteeing they will be broken in 3 months.

Keep your FUDge in your coffee can at home.

Running my fans at 100% for a year now and nothing happened Kiss

The ones saying it is not good are just playing a game : tell the fools to run fans at 50% say and have the bearings crack from so much temp so more downtime for them and less difficulty for us !

Ad-hominem attacks do not change the validity of his claims.

As I've said in the other thread, research shows that lower temperatures (a result of increasing fan speeds) results in longer bearing life.
