So after I posted this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=84951.msg937407 I came to the point that people want a bitcoin job board.

Some features I already working on,
  • Feedback of developers and job posters
  • Profiles, but anyone can post ads or respond
  • After a developer gets a job with a poster and poster confirms this, the post becomes a private or public message board to discuss the project/task at hand(SUGGESTED)
  • Developers will be able to add all skills that they have to a profile and search based on that
  • RSS of all jobs
  • As developers and posters that have created accounts will be able to rank into trusted members

If you guys want any other questions/features just leave them in this thread, and this thread will also serve as a way to update the community about this project...

Yea, you should totally get right on that. That's something that doesn't currently exist in the community.  Roll Eyes

I, for one, wish you luck. If you're good there's a lot to improve upon.

http://www.bitcoinjobs.com/ is just a tumblr so obviously mine is more feature rich

It only posts job listings, and doesn't serve the need for a directory of talent who are looking to provide services, contract/freelance, part time or full-time.

Freelancer, elance, oDesk, etc. will not start offering Bitcoin as a payment method until they face competition that does.

They are aware of Bitcoin, definitely.  Here's a talk by Michael Levinson, VP of Product, oDesk.  Notice that the bitcoin topic just keeps coming up over and over by those in the audience.

Thanks for the link sgornick. I guess that was in October last year so they haven't "jumped right on it".

I used workforbitcoins to commission a logo. I posted a job and then it was a couple of week before I got a response. Problem was in that time Bitcoin had risen and I ended up paying a lot more than I intended for the work.

So I use odesk because they have lot's of developers/designers etc. Your only key benefit over odesk is that you use Bitcoins. Is that really enough of a benefit ? It might be if you target emerging economies as they are always struggling to get paid i.e. Pakistan doesn't have Paypal.

I consider using a bitcoin job market if it had the following features.

1. Escrow, I don't mean you hold my coins I mean BIP 16 or whatever it's called.

2. A review system for both sides.

3. A messaging system for both sides.

And you'll need to execute it really well, I don't want to see a crappy looking site.

Hi gweedo

Did you create a job board in the end?
What are your findings / experiences?

We are building a job board for vacancies in the blockchain industry so your feedback would be very useful!

Kind regards,
Jonas
