Immediate disclaimer: I do not own any Qora.
Qora has been proven to be independent code. Is it possible this coin can be revived? Or is this destined to die as a $hitcoin?
Disclaimer to moderator: This isn't a promotion thread but TaunSew asking if Qora has a future or if Qora is a $hitcoin

i would have bought long ago but i only buy open source coins.
To anser question directly: yes, closed source is in the long run destined to die as a shitcoin no matter what's under the hood.

there will be swings to play and ups and downs once its open source. I don't believe into promises. So as long as its closed these swings are not for me, cheers I'll be coming to the market once the coin was reviewed by some professionals. Closed source could just be about anything. You could be trying to hype a litecoinclone with no innovation, who knows?

There is nothing like checking the source code for yourself for judging a coin, but two developers working on NXT's AT have reviewed the code and said it's original (not a clone). They are integrating AT into Qora before they integrate it into NXT.

For some open source is mandatory.
Not even just from a safety perspective, but also an ethical one. It's definitely debatable though.

Qora is very certainly still overvalued for being closed source. I'd be ready to take that risk to buy an unknown product (closed source) for around 10% to 20% of the current price. Caveate emptor can't be applied to closed source but it's a main rule here so most people who know what they do will stay away. Trading open source coins is risky enough. Don't need more risk, thank you.
Why is it not open? Because it has flaws? Because there is nothing to show? Because it's not clean? Or because the dev has a problem with the head? Which is it?

FACT: We have suffered from low vol since Sharexcoin decided it was gonna run off with early investors coins and then dump them. By then we had low vol and one guy who was determined to manipulate the price down and has nearly 10% of the coins now. At some point the guy will stop edging the price down and will pump this coin to the moon on this low vol. So no the beast is sleeping not dead.

Its worth remembering NXT already had moved 1000's% before OS and only popped 30% briefly at OS. The developer is development focused calm and mild mannered with zero hype. I know that hard for the thrill seekers on this forum but most of the hyped coins of the last year have already popped and been forgotten. Qora will be around for years.

It's not open source because the community voted to keep it closed until it's had more features added.

You know and I know Qora is not a shitcoin, how can a brand new code that is reported to have a neat and well developed code be a shitcoin? Don't you know the definition of a shitcoin. Now is Qora traded at a price normally reserved for shitcoins? Yes it is, but that's an opportunity not a negative. How can a coin once OS with i'm sure some great assets working on its AE with turning complete be traded as worthless? The question is almost laughable once you look at the facts.

It's not open source because the community voted to keep it closed until it's had more features added. so that same community better not complain about the price now You voted for low price right there. Great move (not) People who don't understand it shouldn't vote about it - or at least not whining when others aren't willing to buy closed source after they ruined the cap with their vote. If i would have been holding i would have dumped it right there on that community for their fine vote tbh (nothing personal) You can turn yourself on your head and crying even louder how undervalued it is. Not many will care. The truth is: you will only on very rare occasions get a lot of money into a closed source coin. Once it is open for a few weeks we will be able to reevaluate the coin. Right now i only can judge by the logo and promises which i both tend to ignore normally. edit: got to add, if the closed source code was leaking and implemented properly in an open source coin that would be launched before Qora is open sourced it could even loose first mover advantage and end up insignificant as "the coin that could have, should have" . Where is that advantage again of closed source? I right now totally forgot.

The closed source code has not leaked yet (and two NXT AT developers have already reviewed it).

To stop clones whose devs lack the ability to deobfuscate closed source code.

I can't believe the community voted to keep it closed source, lol.
I didn't know that. I thought it might have been the devs own crazy decision.
I wonder what it could have been had they open sourced it while people were interested in it.
Not saying it's 'dead', but I think they've made a huge mistake.

Well, I for one am okay with it being closed source until promised functionality was delivered. That's the little tidbit of info that is missing here. In fact, originally, Qora was not to be traded until all features were implemented, but you know how us crypto'ers are, "Gimme my coins", "Let's get on an exchange" and so on.
Qora himself stated it would be unwise to trade until he had a product he was proud to present to the community that contained his promised functionality, but the community did not listen.
Either way, it's a moot point.
QORA GOES OPEN SOURCE NEXT WEEK!

Interesting that it happened this way. Qora was definitely right about not having it on the open market until it was ready I think. IPO buyers probably left a ton of money on the table there by getting greedy and impatient. Good to hear that it's finally coming out though.
