Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

have a look at http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin, there are many users there.
is this moderated or not
Yes. Theymos is actually one of the moderators on this subreddit

Crypto Infinity or https://cryptoinfinity.com is another unique crypto currency community with a live chat and game section that allows members to play classic games like frogger, pacman donkey kong and more for chances to win currencies.
There's a few active Facebook groups too (can't tell you the groupnames, no facebook access now but you can search)
thereis also cryptocointalk
I think there are a few active Russian and Spanish forums, but BitcoinTalk and Reddit are the main English speaking forums primarily for Bitcoins. I can find some active Bitcoin topics on non-crypto related forums too.
The number of participants on these forums are a fraction of the participants that bitcointalk has. The likely reason is because this is the forum that satoshi participated in and likely monitors at least to an extent.

... Is there any bitcoin forums, blogs etc that might be visited so that we can  reach out to other users?

I google "bitcoin forum" but forums available has presently low in activity.

There is also the letstalkbitcoin.com forum, but it's also rather small, compared to this one. They do however give a few altcoins for participating there, such as posting, writing articles, listening to podcasts, etc.. Or at least they did, last I checked some months ago.

For all intensive purposes, "no" there are not other forums where bitcoin/crypto currency can be discusses. All the other forums/groups are much smaller and the members have a much less level of expertise.

You should probably keep up with this forum: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3543334

It provides the most comprehensive history and in-depth look at all the comedy that is BTC.

Isn't somethingawful something like the forum equivalent of 4chan?

idk, I've never been on 4chan.  I think something awful is less creepy, although that would probably be giving goons way too much credit.

You'll also find on the various exchanges a lot of Bitcoin users hanging about on chat, since they do so much business there they just seem to hang out there too.

Also known as "trollboxes". Don't take anything they say in them too seriously and especially not for fact.

Hashtalk.org is quite interesting if you're into mining, even if you're not it's quite appealing to visit.

I'd mention that www.hackforums.net also have a cryptocurrency section but I wouldn't recomend this forum to anyone. Aside of a handful of comunity members it seems like there's no one else there able to engage on meaningful discussion.

I have visited that forum on a handful of occasions and I absolutely hate it. A lot of it are sellers pushing these ebooks to generate money online and random sales too.

I personally do not like reddit as it is too easy to manipulate which threads/posts are up top/most visible as it is more or less a popularity contest

Bitcointalk is the only bitcoin forum that I participate on.

Therefore anyone participating on any other forum is missing out on my amazing knowledge and advice.

As such, it is a waste of time to participate in any other forum.

Over time as more people learn this, this forum becomes more popular and other forums slowly die off.
