Stolen BTC from Bitfinex account

My Bitfinex account got hacked, and 4 BTC were stolen.
I know it sounds a little for many here, but I worked really hard on getting them.

Any help here to track the thief?

That sucks man, I'm sorry to hear that. I've had BTC stolen as well and I can't really offer any advice, but hopefully someone else can. The only thing I can tell you is that now keep the vast majority of my coins in cold storage. Good luck.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

My post is directed at those who can still learn from your (OP's) mistake, instead of having to make it themselves.

Take possession of your coins, and learn to secure your private keys people!

I earned those BTC from trading, and was still trading with them.
So this is why they were on the exchange.
If no BTC will stay on exchanges the market will just die.

Anyway, I did learn my lesson, but the question is if there is anything I can do to reach the thief.
The only details I have now is IP he/she used (which says nothing actually) and the BTC address to which it was sent.
The BTC are still in the address.

It was a phishing attack directed on me specifically, it wasn't any failure in Bitfinex system

Not really, that would be bad for bitcoin.
Sorry for your loss, my only advice, if it was majority of your BTC, don't keep them online anywhere next time, use cold storage.

If you really need to keep your bitcoin on exchange for trading, you could have used 2FA. That should protect your bitcoin from phishing attacks.

The chance for you to get back your 4 btc is extremely low. Sorry for your loss

Bitcoin protocol don't mark Bitcoins. Even if they are marked, they can easily be mixed using a mixing service and no one would know they are stolen.

IP address are useless as they can be private VPN or proxy. Check for malwares and always enable 2 factor authentication. Make sure the address bar matches bitfinex's address.

search for cold storage.

install antivirus and antimaleware on your PC. keep it up to date and scan.

enable 2 factor authentifikation.

dont install shady programms on your computer.

As OP wrote, he fell for a phishing attack. Upping your computer's security won't help against that.
Tracking the thief will probably be futile - if they know their "business", they have left few traces. Of course, documenting and analyzing every snippet of information that you have might be helpful.
Did the phishing attack come via e-mail, or through some chat or social network? That might lead somewhere (even though the thief will most likely have used proxies).

While it is true that you shouldn't trust exchanges to keep your coins safe, OP's loss is due to a phishing attack. All users having coins on a site (be it exchange, blockchain.info, or casinos) will need to be careful with phishing attack, or will lose your hard-earned bitcoin.

Unfortunately for you, nope. Next time please ensure you have a complex password with 2FA! (Make sure the sure with the 2 factor authentication is kept safe too)

Never had any problem with finex.
And in this case it was only my fault for not using 2FA

Now I just want to do my best to try and find the thief.
I might have an idea of who could it be, but lacking the technological knowledge, it's hard for me to prove it.

I have the proxy IP, the question is if I can gather enough info in order to trace the real IP.
Common sense tells me that if TOR users can be exposed, why not this one?
