You can use wine to use it but you may not get all the features you get in windows and also errors will come. It is better to use Linux version. Smiley

AFAIK, there is no difference between Windows Bitcoin Core and a linux version of it, it is possible to compile it yourself. You can download a linux version of Bitcoin Core without compiling here: http://bitzuma.com/posts/getting-started-with-bitcoin-core-on-ubuntu/. If you really need to compile, here is the compiling guide: http://bitzuma.com/posts/compile-bitcoin-core-from-source-on-ubuntu/. If you really need to run a Windows version, use VMware.

I suggest you use the VMWare solution.
is a very economical solution ...
download vmwarePlayer here https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/6_0

and you can do the test with all operating systems you want without bothering to set up multiboot on your PC

linux, freebsd, ios, windows and all you want!

yes!!!

this is the only negative things!!

running Virtual machines it is expensive for harware resources...

some tip:
1) put all the RAM you can in phisical PC
2) use SSD HD

You could cross-compile using Wine, but that would be quite a pain, since you need those Qt libraries as well...
Your could use MXE: http://mxe.cc/ to make it easier.
It's easier to just run Windows in a VM, as suggested earlier, and compile from there. (although that would ofcourse require a Windows license)
