"The cryptocurrency could also benefit from a kind of central bank established by merchants accepting Bitcoin, he said, that would act as a clearing house for transactions and implement secure storage of coins. Karpeles is also trying to draft a best practices document for Bitcoin security that he said he would share with anyone willing to consider his ideas."

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2846252/despite-mt-gox-fiasco-karpeles-still-has-bitcoin-plans.html

"Bitcoin exchanges should have 24-hour operation centers manned by guards and accessed only through hardware tokens, and with staff who have undergone extensive background checks, he said."

Comments he stated all while wearing a shirt that said :
“I don’t always test my code,” it reads, “but when I do, I do it in production.”

The fucking nerve! I don't know whether he is just a complete idiot or one of the biggest douches in recent memory.

Bitcoin's raison d'etre is to remove the added counterparty risk from central banks and regulators. Stop trading your private keys for IOU tokens.

The new improved Karpeles, he's not just a tool, he's a 48 function swiss army knife.

How do you give the world the biggest reason possible in the universe not to have a cryptocurrency central bank, and then turn round and say one is needed. But if that's the way the world is thinking, lets go ask Hiroshima if they feel the need for another nuke coming on.

If security and privacy is no problem, many merchants  will go there including individuals.

Karpeles has long been deemed to be incompetent well before the implosion of gox (very long before). I am really not 100% sure why so many people were trusting it with their money.

Now that his incompetence has been even further "confirmed" by gox, I would highly doubt that anything he says will ever be taken seriously

Did he go to jail?
No. He has not been charged criminally. Although he has been subpenaed by the US court system, but will not appear out of fear that he will get arrested/charged if he does

Ecuador does not want a government crypto currency, they want a digital currency. They also have not banned bitcoin

We don't need a central bank, we need a small transactions clearing system. If we have a cencentralised bank, we go back to a fractional reserve fiat system.

You can expect this 'central bank' of his to come under a sustained revenge attack the moment it's opened for all the money lost on MTGOX, no wonder he was looking so smug on television, he's clearly made a deal with the Japanese government.

Oh boy. I can't wait for the flood of posts where people complain that they've lost money thanks to the endeavors of this dude.
Well it should be in the tens of thousands to be conservative. Gox ended up loosing over 200,000 bitcoin

I still don't understand why people left their money with this prick in the first place though I would argue it's partly the mainstream news outlets that are to blame for pointing towards MTGOX as the 'largest' volume exchange all the time.

Legendary advice  from Mark Karpeles

The cryptocurrency could also benefit from a kind of central bank established by merchants accepting Bitcoin, he said, that would act as a clearing house for transactions and implement secure storage of coins. Karpeles is also trying to draft a best practices document for Bitcoin security that he said he would share with anyone willing to consider his ideas.

The cost to view the document one case of people running away with coins and the private keys ^^

if he does not?
if he have to travel to the usa, whether he would be the same as Shiram?
