Energy war between the United States and Russia, the ruble depreciated by 18%. Originally Bitcoin is a good choice, but Russia banned it.

Russia wants to ban USD as well. A Bill was just introduced to ban the USD because russians have been preferring it over the ruble.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/nov/13/bill-would-outlaw-us-dollar-russia/

If Russia bans the USD expect Russians to use Bitcoin as a means of capital flight where the ruble continues to crumble.

Looks like another state using inflation to fund their war. No wonder Russia is trying to prevent capital flight.

I KNEW Bitcoin was inherently anti-war!

Inflation gives massive rewards to those who oppress others whereas Bitcoin must be earned fairly - going to war means giving your money away for supplies and the destruction you cause makes everything more expensive, with inflation it can pay off, but in a Bitcoin world your enemies and dissidents end up holding all the capital while you have to pay more!

lol interesting, will check these out.  I've only heard of this bitcoin relation to antiwar deal...so not sure how it'd work in a "real world" circumstance (ie. Russia)

Seen the second one before, definitely the best (shorter and same points basically).

I disagree with him a little in the first; I don't think Bitcoin will end ALL war. I just think it will be more difficult to start and fund over long time stupid wars.

You might have a few genuine reasons for war left that people would in fact fund even if it cost them.

For instance if I was a Somalian I might indeed choose to fund some newly started government/movement if they could stop the random violence and anarchy.

My own country has a few instances of armed uprisings in the past based entirely on volunteers.

Still that puts a pretty firm limit on the possibilities for war - it would only happen if massive rewards were apparent.

Agree, that it won't eliminate all wars. If bitcoin could even slightly reduce wars it is one of the most important innovations in history.

If Russia bans USD and Bitcoin then why would that trigger a bitcoin bubble? When China was talking about banning bitcoin we went down.

You are right that banning Bitcoin will hurt adoption , but banning USD which many Russians are investing in to avoid inflation of the ruble will drive more Russian to illegally buy bitcoin. I don't know how much of an effect this will have though as I am unaware if you can open up accounts in yuan or other fiat currencies in Russia. In many countries usually it is their national currency and the usd.

Well sooner or later Russia will see the power of Bitcoin and will have to unban it. I highly doubt that with the userbase bitcoin has gained they will keep it banned for a long time.

Bitcoin inner circle is mainly Southern Californian.  Russia and China also treats Google and Facebook suspiciously because of their American background.

There ain't no Revolution like a NEMolution.  The only solution is Bitcoin's dissolution! NEM!

Banning Bitcoin won't help us much, but if both USD and Bitcoin are banned and you hold crumbling rubles, which is easier to illegally get? Bitcoin wins hands down.

Point 2: If there is war, cold war or even uncertainty coming that would mean fiat - money based purely on trust in government - would loose to the global, inflation-free and robust nature of Bitcoin.

Might make some of the people who have proclaimed Bitcoin dead the past 2+ months remember why it was invented in the first place.

Soon there will be satellites to broadcast the blockchain. It's pretty much impossible to ban crypto's. Bitcoin was made to give the power back to the people.

it makes sense why russia would "ban" bitcoin, Putin could buy bitcoin at a discount rate on that news and then sell them when he changes his mind. its the reverse-russian style of a of pump and dump......

I wish it would work the way they describe it.
