This is the third time I've withdrawn from mtgox to my dwolla account.  The funds keep going back into mtgox!  Why is this happening?

Transactions can optionally carry transaction fees. Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get the fee. The Bitcoin client will sometimes force you to pay a fee when it thinks that no miner will accept your transaction otherwise.

Have you gotten verified on Mt Gox yet? I had the same problem and learned I had to verify my account.

MtGox confirmed with me via their support forum they will not refund money to Dwolla users who send it to them. I sent the money even before the rules went into effect and they indicated they would hold on to my money indefinitely, never giving it back, till I identified myself. I actually preferred having a non-verified account because of the withdrawl limits.

Look at your USD transactions under Account History.  Does the transaction that returns the funds to your account say "Usage of Dwolla requires a verified account"?

Dwolla requires merchants to apply more stringent KYC rules to their customers than they did in the past.  You must have a verified account now if you're using Dwolla.  Regardless of whether you sent the money before 25 May, that rule is going to apply to all transactions after that date - such as withdrawals.

It's not even clear that Dwolla is going to continue allowing Bitcoin exchanges to continue using their service - it's rather pointless complaining about MtGox enforcing Dwolla's requirements.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

I'm sorry you don't consider it worthwhile to warn people that if they have an unverified account with MtGox and send money via Dwolla that MtGox will hold on to their money indefinitely. Whether or not it is Dwolla's problem, the mechanism existed such that I sent them money prior to agreeing to Dwolla's ToS changes and they refused to give it back.

I'm currently on day 9 for my Dwolla transfer.  And yes, I'm verified.

9 days we would consider 9 days to be a luxury.   I am on 18 days.
