I am looking for 3 or more small matching WD Raptors, WD VelociRaptors or (any brand) SSDs for a dedicated RAID5 array for a new Virtual Environment that I am setting up for all my Bitcoin Financial workings.

Let me know what you have, what you want for them and if you can ship to Canada (Calgary,AB)

thanks in advance,
bitlane.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

WD actually just released terabyte sized Velociraptors, but with the exception of the seek times the 3TB drives are cheaper and faster.

Would you be short-stroking these? If so, just use SSDs

I just saw those recently and was impressed with how cheap they were. I was just hoping for a few used drives to get this done, in BTC hopefully.

I have used every iteration of Raptor/VelociRaptor since their inception and still prefer them over SSDs in sustained READ/WRITE environments...although you can't beat an SSD for it's read times only, if used that way.

Currently I boot my main workstation from a 3 drive RAID 0 SSD array, but my 'working' volume for Video Transcoding etc is still done on a RAID 0 VelociRaptor Array, as the SSDs just get bogged down too fast with multiple read/write requests and the VR's still shine in that respect, regardless of RAID Card.

I have 3 matching 74gb sata 2 raptors. Super old... but they do fit small and raptor. 8.5BTC shipped for the lot. I might even have a fourth. I'll need to look.

Plus... I still have the 8 port pci-x raid card I can sell you.
