Hello, world!

Altcoin.Center came to existence few months ago as the results of yours truly figuring out the fact that while there are many ingenious people involved in developing the actual crypto currencies, at the same time there's a huge void of expertise in the scene when it comes to issues that have to do with providing a stable ground upon which the numerous crypto currency related services can thrive upon - i.e. secure and reliable server systems.

I've found myself in an almost impossible situation since the demand for specialized services such as pool hosting is so big that even though I haven't really advertised at all, I already have way too much to do just trying to keep up to date with the constant influx of incoming requests.

At the same time we're already gearing our systems up and are about to release a handful of quite interesting (and necessary) services that help the whole altcoin scene by providing the required long term stability on a technical level. To give one quick example, we already have an alpha version of a seed server network running that provides a permanent and reliable "addnode" source to handful of coins.

In order to be able to respond to the growing demand, I'm now searching for skilled and motivated individuals to participate in creating

   * A NOMP based auto-switching pool
   * A modular block chain analysis & monitoring system
   * A modular Node.JS multi-currency wallet (text only for now)
   * A modular multi-protocol bootstrap system with support for DNS, IRC, Tor, Namecoin etc.
   * Several SMS based services ranging from manual bootstrapping to an altcoin shop
   * A block chain based remote server administration & logging system

And finally:

   * We are developing an operating system of our own; Block Chain OS

Block Chain OS has been on the drawing board for quite some time (several years) and will eventually replace Linux as the bedrock on which all of our services are to be running. BCOS will consist of a very secure and light weight kernel that will do basically nothing else but provide an I/O layer on top of which Node.JS can run. The kernel may be a fork of Linux, but other alternatives exist as well. BSD (particularly OpenBSD and DragonFlyBSD) kernels are at the top of the list.

Everything we do is based on KISS and "secure by default" thinking.

Yes, there is a lot to do.

Yes, it will be worth it.

If you're interested in hopping aboard, now would be the time to PM or e-mail me with a brief description of your areas of expertise.

Hoping to hear from you soon!

Sorry mate, but according to the VIES database http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/ that VAT number (EE-12368076) on your site isn't valid, in addition the Google search for Metacon Consultants turned up with a company in Mumbai as the nearest hit...

You might agree if I think this is a bit confusing and not the most reassuring starting of a business relationship Smiley.

I have no clue why on earth the VIES database is giving you such results. I will have to check this right away. Apparently we have dropped out of the list of VAT registered companies - which does not mean our company would have ceased to exist.

in addition the Google search for Metacon Consultants turned up with a company in Mumbai as the nearest hit...

Metacon Consultants OÜ has no online presence which is why Google search doesn't bring up too many hits. You can still find us if you search with the full name - i.e. the OÜ part included: https://www.google.com/search?q=metacon+consultants+oü

http://csaregister.com/company/metacon-consultants-ou
https://www.inforegister.ee/en/12368076-OSAKER-UU/report
https://www.e-krediidiinfo.ee/12368076-METACON%20CONSULTANTS%20OÜ

You can also see the names and contact information of all the three of us behind the company there.

You might agree if I think this is a bit confusing and not the most reassuring starting of a business relationship Smiley.

I do agree it is confusing if you try to form your opinion of whether or not we exist based on failed VAT check and googling without the OÜ.

The grand majority of crypto currency developers never even reveal their names, so I do wonder why such high requirements are suddenly presented.

Besides, we are not looking to start any business relationships - we are searching for developers and system administrators.

Just google me up - and call me if you feel like it. The number is there on the company's registry information.

Yours,

Jyri Hovila

Call me paranoid if you want, but checking the VAT number (if available) and Googling the company are the most basic things what anybody wanna do in any kind of possible business relationship.

Well, I'd say there are no general rules about basically any single thing in this world. There are seven billion of us on this ball, and it's difficult to find two who would have identical views about anything.

Some people base their trust on what others (such as official) say, some listen more to their intuition. Some form their opinion based on past experiences, some on pure hunch.

It is very easy to think that "most people" see things the way I do, though.

Not nearly every company has an Internet presence, and not every company is in the VAT registry. It appears that in our case we have for one reason or another dropped out of the VAT registry, while our company registration number (which is same as the VAT number) is still perfectly valid. I'll change the wording on our web page from "VAT code" to "company registry code" in a moment just to avoid any further misunderstandings.

You can find us by googling, you can see the names of the people behind the company, you can call us, or you can even come and meet us any time. It is a very different situation compared to what is usual in the crypto scene where you may never even know the first names of the developers, and still people put their trust on these anonymous figures. I would understand the extra requirements for proving ourselves if we were asking for funding or starting up a bank. However, as I've already mentioned, we are not - we are merely looking for coders and system administrators.

I fully accept your view of this world and am not trying to change it. All I'm saying is that I think you made a bit too hasty conclusions based on very little amount of information. I might also add, that considering how little information most of the crypto project maintainers out there give of themselves, and taking into account that we're simply looking for people willing to participate in creating something that helps the whole crypto community, it is a bit strange to present us with a bunch of doubts while we are are in fact way more transparent and open about who we are than is considered normal in the crypto scene.

You're free not to trust us, although I'm also happy to provide you the possibility to reconsider. Wink

Yours,

Jyri
