I used to love it too. I smoked constantly. But I couldnt believe how quickly I switched over to vaping. The same day I bought my epipe, was the last day Ive lit a regular pipe. I totally wasnt expecting that, I didnt even have an intention to quit; It just tastes better (with the right eliquid), it smells better (fresh and while smoking pipe tobacco smells great, but the next morning, not so much), you dont have all the hassle and dirt and last but not least, it dramatically improved my breathing and general health.
hmm, i could make that, it looks like all it really needs is a nice Bowel, i could totally make something like that if i can get my hands on the Custom made Stem and Liquid + battery.,
IMR 13850 is the standard battery used in those things. Bigger is better, but probably wont fit in a pipe form. You have to make sure its easy to swap, because it will be swapped daily or more often (external charger).
As for the "stem" (called a driptip in ecig jargon) and clearomizer (which holds the liquid and heating element), they both have standard connectors and you can easily find pipe style driptips that will fit on any standard clearomizer. Or you could make your own Im sure, just make it compatible with a "510".
i could probably also fix a nice LCD display on top so every time you smoke it lights up, (like the E-cigg got these days, only bigger)
You need a convenient fire button. Most designs put it on top, so you operate it with your thumb, and it does double duty as a screw-on lid so you can replace the battery. You also need to fit the voltage regulator if you plan on a variable voltage version, and I would encourage you to try that, because to my knowledge, it hasnt been done yet. "Easy" way is using something like smoktech kick:
I dont think that will let you drive an LCD though. If you make a nice dial to change the wattage, thats good enough IMO.
