I think most of us been scammed one way or another during our time with btc And most of the times its usually a lesson for next time. But a scam of 5 BTC, is something else. It hurts if you lose that to a scam.

I am used to win big and lose big with btc so 5 btc is by no mean the worst loss I had, though yeah, I had better times and it was not great one to be scammed in.
I hope the fucker will spent them on healing his baldness.

You're allowed to laugh at me, I deserve it.
I don't, I feel sorry for you. 1/7 a 0 more, such mistake, such loss. Thank you for the warning. Making a mistake (or more) doesn't make you an idiot. Not getting up again, yes.

Might help ypu to avoid being idiot like me. Was selling few btc, and posted on a thread of a guy who was buying. Got the PM later that he wanted to buy, I insisted on escrow, he suggested Yankee (Bitinstant), good ols user and I accepted. Only when I sent coins to supposed escrow I noticed that account I sent to was completely new and had dot after Yankee, while supposed segvec I was trading with is actualy seqvec. 5 BTC gone to wind due to my stupidity. So, be careful and avoid doing the same mistake. Accounts involved - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=395486 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=383069You're allowed to laugh at me, I deserve it. No laughing matter, you did the right thing, escrow, only didn't pay attention. I feel for you man, not funny....

that's a tough break. better off just selling your coins on coinbase. you will get pimped with a fee, but a lot safer. peace of mind goes a long way. thank you for sharing your story. hopefully it will help others to avoid falling victim to something similar.

This recently was pulled on me as well. The user they were impersonating was TomatoCage though and the username was Tomatorcage.
It's likely the same scumbag that did this as well.
I've got pmed byt TomatorCage a few days ago. haha.

damn thats a shame, it seems like you were in a rush im guessing?
since all those mistakes of checking if it was a non new account w. proper name etc could of been avoided. it was either you were too excited to sell trying to make a fast transaction.
i wont laugh, cause it happens to the best of us. for me i lost smaller amount, but this is when btc value was super high like mid $700 value, and meant to give .02 not .2 and clicked send.

its okay man, i recently lost .1 btc but this is from gambling, we both lost bitcoin but just in a different way.
i know that comment doesnt ease the pain, but i know how it feels.
just remember theres way more ways to lose bitcoin, like blockchains web wallets a couples weeks ago were all affected.
