Thanks, this was useful. I think a good idea would be to include tooltips on the icons and additional tags with short descriptions. Then all the ranking would be much more clear to new users (and even to readers who, without this post, can only guess what the ranks mean).

Better to go on IRC and check someone's bitcoin-otc rating.

From this info, you should see that the post-based rankings are fairly easy to get and should not be relied on when considering someone's trustworthiness.
Well I guess the important thing is to see what they've been writing...that usually a good way to determine trustworthiness 500 posts is certainly nothing to sniff at, but it could just be a bunch of mindless rambling not unlike what I'm doing now!!

i'm reading here more than 6 months but i never think to register and ask question
normally i searched my question in google about BTC , 99% i get result from bitcointalk forum
and most of the time i got exact answers
like "best os for mining " = BAMT
yesterday i planned to post but i can find any link to start thread , but i read about newbies section i saw few user levels here
OMG
its helped a lot

I Think One Should Apply For This When He/She Already Got 500+ Posts. I Don't Think Anyone Will Believe Donator, VIP Etc Until He/She Have Some Experience.

This is good info for us n00b5. When I'm rich you can count me in for a VIP donation.

Nice ranks, easy and straight forward.
Are there many outed scammers who dare to still post?

A couple yes, attention whores or people who like to play the martyr. Terry Tibbs was all right though. Paid his dents eventually.

((...snip...)) ((...snip...)) And this marks my 100th post (just testing hehe) Also, wanted to point out that "he / his / him" aren't really a politically correct pronoun anymore. It is 2012 for heaven's sake. Would "singular they / theirs / them" be too much to ask for? Just sayin' ... someone recently pointed out that this forum is far from welcoming to women: I agree this forum is awful in that regard. The only way around this is for women to be involved in the technology itself. When more women have visibility as code contributors and Bitcoin entrepreneurs - the misogynistic voices here will be smacked down quicker and harder. It would be pointless for me to try to hide this forum from a womens advocacy group such as Ada Initiative when discussing Bitcoin with them. It's got to start somewhere - and I don't apologize for holding this forum up as an example of something that's a bit broken, and that they may have the potential to begin to address. edit: my comment above regarding 'risk taking' gender differences only reflects my *current* understanding. From what I see, studies bear this out: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167268111001533I have no opinion on whether this is genetic or social in basis though - it's just something I see as a plausible explanation for a gender imbalance in a technology such as Bitcoin which (largely due to bad press) has a reputation as being edgy/risky. Once that imbalance exists though - it's accelerated by the obnoxious comments which go unchallenged. Perhaps my discussion of 'risk taking' gender effects isn't helpful either - but if so - I wish there were more women around here to correct any misconceptions I have in that regard! Edited to add:Wait, it didn't work? I'm confused: Edited AGAIN to add:Wait, nevermind, it did? I checked twice before doing a screen-grab... is this rank thingy done on the same timer used to automatically convert newbie members to junior ones? lol whatever. Edited to add because of moved off-topic posts which were archived.
(( sorry for going off topic like that / thanks for archiving it though ))
moved to new thread ----> Singular "they"

I wouldn't mind a bitcoin donation to keep the forum alive but 50btc.... that's quite steep for most people.
They should have the whole 5 coins turn purple, and give you special customization options. Same with the 10btc donation.

How does administration determine if someone is a scammer? Is there a vote or something?
