I switched from Firefox to Chrome about a year ago. Just switched back last night. Chrome has a good interface and being synced across all devices is awesome but its obvious that Firefox cares much more about privacy than Google does.

I wouldn't trust anything google puts out. Chrome is nice and clean but I prefer Firefox all the way for several reasons.

The Mozilla Foundation is registered as a non-profit organisation, as such exempt from federal income tax.

Not sure if all BTC donations are liquidated to USD as Coinbase clients can choose the proportion %. Either way it's just another way for people who use Mozilla open source products to contribute (without giving away 3-6% to Paypal).

I like their Firefox browser, so I just donated $50 worth (you get directed to Coinbase who just ask for email address) - smooth process.

Registered for a Coinbase account back in the day, never really had the need to use them, as I'm based outside US.

Never knew Mozilla was a non-profit before this, lol. Interesting to learn that their revenue has quite a history, surging in 2004+, this past fiscal year saw only a 1% rise. However, the Foundation published a $314,000,000 revenue for 2012-13. Pretty impressive accomplishment in a competitive market.

Makes me think about the revenue Apple and Google make selling their consumer products and the premium users pay to use their operating systems/linked advertising.

Mozilla recently launched a concept phone? Their aim being to provide an OS to rival and out-perform Apple's in usability, functionality and cost. I'm lucky because my previous job in earth sciences paid very well, but not everyone can afford an iphone nor macbook pros. Though Apple products are good, they are also way over priced to the average consumer. It's community-based developers like those who contribute to organisations like Mozilla that will one day out-perform proprietary systems.

This is in alignment with Bitcoin ethos!

http://www.cnet.com/news/mozillas-big-revenue-increases-come-to-abrupt-halt/

Also, interestingly approximately 90% of that revenue was from Google via their search bar integration and Google's Adsense product. 2015 will be the last year for this arrangement and Mozilla are going to move with Yahoo thereafter.

The r/bitcoin subreddit is responsible for this move!

It's unfortunate they take bitcoin and convert it to USD immediately Sad

Tor is not anonymous how to protect user's anonymity?

The FBI in the US have licenced a software programme called RAP BACK which has many different functions. One function of Rap Back is being able to follow Tor routes. it was the initiation of Rap Back which closed down the darknet markets couple of weeks back. They have also sold licence of Rap Back to UK but it is yet to be implemented. Nothing is anonymous anymore.

It takes a lot of resources to track anything, and even then its not assured. Unless an individual is doing something big or is under notice particularly then there is no need to panic yet.

Lame

Main donation page only shows 2 options: Credit Card and PayPal

You have to click on FAQ link -> click "What are the ways I can donate?" -> click "Ways to Give page" -> click "Bitcoin" -> click "To donate bitcoin, please visit this link" -> click "Donate Bitcoins"

Accepting Bitcoin donations - you're doing it wrong.

Here's the shortcut link:
