Hoping to know what those changes are though someday.

Anyone?

Would also be nice to have a separate forum just for annoucements, as was suggested here:

moving to a separate host so the incoming crash of reddit/slash/twitts/btards/whatever hammer the front page, not the forum :p

New forum looks pretty ugly imo. There's no need for those <new> tags beside threads as you could already tell which had new replies by the bold titles. Also the new quotes are way uglier than before.

Check out quotes, e.g. here (or, indeed, directly above!) Might be the default SMF theme, but it's different to how it was before the recent changes.

I changed the theme back to the old one. The other one looked terrible.

If you preferred the other one, note that you can change your personal theme in your profile.

Advanced search appears to have been affected:

  http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?action=search;advanced

I select: Sort order -> Most recent topics first

however the search results don't appear to be sorted chronologically.

They're not just tags; they're links that take you to the newest post you haven't yet read.  I find them insanely useful, and I'm very glad that this forum finally enabled the feature.  We can quibble about the graphics, but it's the functionality that's important.

EDIT:  and of course as soon as I post that, they're gone.  That's what I get for opening a tab and not reading it for over an hour.  To the control panel I go!  =D

I re-enabled the "new" links. I've actually been wanting these links for a long time, but I never took the time to investigate how to enable them (since you need to edit a long, difficult-to-read file).

I wonder what happened to quick edit...

I've only ever seen Quick Edit on vBulletin boards.  If SMF has that feature then I've never seen it being used.

Quick Edit was here, but after yesterday's "maintenance" it seems to have disappeared.

For me, quick edit was not appearing because I had the script blocked (due to its new location).

Ah, Quick edit is back. But the button graphics have gone missing again.
