Just wanted to confirm that this coin is authentic.  This is one of only 3-4 coins that have been redeemed without their hologram being removed.  We did that redemption due to some unusual circumstances.  If you buy it and want to fund it just PM me.

EDIT: REALLY important thing that I didn't mention.  We CANNOT redeem coins that have a private key underneath the hologram.  We're the ONLY physical coin maker that produced 2-factor authenticated coins and it was ONLY 2FA coins that we redeemed for customers without them going through the redemption forms on our website.

Hmm, that does sound like an unusual circumstance indeed! I suppose though that if you were ever ready to use/take the Bitcoin from your nice physical crypto, you would definitely want to do it this way- you just normally don't have the option! Unless you put it together yourself and have a backup, obviously.

The seller in the OP said something like- "This coin is not funded but has the option to be funded." I assumed they had bought it from you, and just had not followed through with the funding process after receiving the shipment. As in it still essentially had a value of 1 Bitcoin attached to it from you- just not sent to it yet. I wondered what motivation the seller would have to sell the coin without having the 1 BTC transferred yet. I didn't think you would agree to send it to another address of the seller's if they sold the coin.

Also, just to clarify- you said the coin had been redeemed without the hologram being removed. Does this mean the private key has been loaded online? Or is the private key still safe cold storage status, and you just sent the BTC to their wallet and not the coin?

Thanks for coming on here to clear things up though; very nice customer service. I'm sure you are aware, but there are already Tons of cheap counterfeit Titan coins floating around the internet. From what I've seen though- the knockoffs have a QR code stamped in the metal, and not a hologram. I guess that means the security/authentic hologram idea & design works.    I have even seen a few being sold on here sadly, but am almost positive it was just someone reselling what they had already bought themselves to make a buck or 2; I.e. not the actual counterfeiter.


P.S. As a proud owner of a Titan coin, I support people redeeming their coins. Proof of funds is always good but mainly the more people who redeem their coins, the more my unredeemed coin will be worth one day.

I think that allowing it to be spent without peeling the hologram is a horrible idea. You could easily sell it to someone and say it was funded...seeing an intact hologram they would not bother to look it up.

You're absolutely right.  I agree completely.  99.99% of the time these coins are redeemed by peeling off the hologram.  In 3 rare instances, before we took a very hardline on the issue, we redeemed the 2-Factor Authenticated coins for customers that were having trouble redeeming through our website for some reason.  These 3 coins which were redeemed without having the hologram destroyed were exceptions, made for the sake of customer service.

Other than those 3 instances, of which this particular coin is one, all coins that have their hologram intact but do not show as either FUNDED or REDEEMED on our website were either stolen or found by someone after having been lost in the mail.  

AGAIN, this ONLY pertains to our unique, 2-Factor Authenticated coins.  

We CANNOT and DO NOT redeem private key coins for customers because we DO NOT have any copies of the private keys.  ALL private key coins that have been redeemed will have a hologram that has clearly been destroyed.

Clarifying the issue of cold storage:  Each 2-factor coin we sell has an address that is associated with an encrypted offline wallet.  The wallet files are kept on a drive stored in an insured safe deposit box, and backed up in a few other locations.  When customers redeem their 2FA coins, we transfer funds to their desired address immediately from one of our hot wallets and then schedule the transfer of BTC out of cold storage for later. 

Practically, we very rarely have to visit the bank and pull that drive, but when we do it goes into one of our permanently offline, air-gapped computers.  We use armory wallets and sign any transactions using photos of QR codes passed back and forth between hot and cold wallets via a webcam and monitor, to prevent any infected USB keys from ever contacting the computers that have authorization to spend BTC.

Private key coins, of course, are cold storage in and of themselves.  Just keep them in a safe and you're good.  The system above was implemented specifically for our 2-factor authenticated coins.

If you look up the coin on our website by entering the 8-digit ID at titanbtc.com/verify, Private key coins explicitly say "private key" at the top of the coin's status page.  If the status page has buttons on the page for redeeming and updating registration info, then it's a 2-factor coin (there is no email registration for private key coins).

Also, on the certificate of authenticity, private key coins have the letters "PK" circled underneath the edition number on the bottom right corner of the certificate.

Thanks for clearing that up.  I have two of your coins and they are, by far, the best.  I own a lot of different types and Titan coins are the highest quality, IMO.
