Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I guess SgtSpike wants proof, of whatever little amount. This means the "sign with address" feature is useful, I hope.

Message:
I, dree12, to the extent of the validity of this signature, confirm that the address 14p87GdersPoGBcB9cjXcQbJ1GUTfmmPMk, on 2012-06-14T00:40, is under my control.

Signature:
HGwUr5gppu7DdDig9ieiMEsQZJO4n65mxtgb3To4IQYxz9wJl3jFFqXWn1dRzipg4ZqotXa40qpXE1O P2IZIZb8=

this isn't actually a valid signature, please don't kill me

Or you could send an arbitrary amount to itself, or to another address, to prove it.

For instance, anyone who wants to prove that they own an address, send exactly 1.85794039 BTC to any address from that address, then post here that you did it.

If I combined all of my active wallets I'd have several hundred coins. I have an offline wallet that has 6000.
I have actually considered cashing it in. Then bitcoin value goes up. I built myself a new pc with a few hundred when BTC Broke $5.

Don't know if it is controlled by one person, but the SR Bitcoin address (their pool of money) was the richest address last time I checked (like 1 week ago).

How do you know SR's address?

He's talking about this thread that speculated it was.

As mybitcoin/mtgox/bitcoinica/etc. have demonstrated, they aren't your bitcoins unless their under your sole control.

Bitcoin combines money, the wrongest thing in the world, with software, the easiest thing in the world to get wrong.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

I'm resigned to the fact that I'll never have 'over 9000' BTC Sad

..still... I'm not *quite* as sure that the BTC/USD price won't go 'over 9000' in my lifetime Smiley

I'll be very happy if either of those happen Smiley

500, half from CPU mining.

Hardforks aren't that hard. It’s getting others to use them that's hard.

500, half from CPU mining.

That's pretty cool. I got into mining right at the end of the CPU days Smiley Only made like 20 coins though Tongue

With this difficulty in mining I too will never get to have over 9000 BTC Sad

At the moment I have under 50 BTC.
