It's been discussed and proposed many times. I think it's possible that a micronation could adopt btc in the future, but not ones like Sealand as it doesn't seem practical. I guess we can only wait and see.

I've heard of these "nations" and also remember reading about the proposal to use Bitcoin in this context before...

The problem of many of these Micronations is that they don't even have full executive power over their own territory (maybe Sealand is an exception). So all their passports, stamps, currencies are basically meaningless, because they will only be able to use them as long as the macronations (that don't recognize them) allow it. Fighting for official recognition by issueing insignia of statehood is meaningless, what really counts is having de facto power.

Using Bitcoin as their "official currency" won't change the powerlessness of these Micronations. Maybe if multiple Micronations use Bitcoin it could strengthen their economic abilities.

There probably isnt huge amount of trade going on, importing being the most common.  Bitcoin would certainly be a stronger currency then one they could create,

I've contacted Sealand and got a direct reply from the King with both of his sons CC'ed.

He said he had been a victim of BTC theft and held a grudge.

I responsed as honest as I could and then a few days later their site emailed me back saying they would never be interested.... I'm standing here with my dick in my handing thinking "The fucking King the emailed me first dick weed... thanks!" Tongue

I'll find his response in a second & update.  I really hit the nail on the head with the first email, but fumbled a bit on the second one I guess... *sigh* It isn't easy being a sales man to individual countries, but I think they could be a good start and a good step into a more free world.  I think they are all about freedom as well and have obviously owned Bitcoins before.

There is a reason for them, but we just need them to understand we are serious about this freedom bullshit and they become so much more than a old military fortress... they become the first Bitcoin military fortress Smiley.

Edit:

Steven,
You have my attention and also that of my sons. I also realise I need to put aside the fact I had a considerable amount of Bitcoins stolen from me (my introduction to Bitcoin).
What do you have in mind?

Well.... that's the reality kicking hard at the door. Hackers and scammers killing, the cow giving them milk.  Sad

Send him a trezor and tell him to test it for 2 months, and if they loose coins, they can totally give up on the idea.

instead of trying to get wild, exotic places that are thousands of miles away from you to accept bitcoin. everyone should start in their own hometown.

stuff like sealand and other micronations are just gimmicks, personally i think i have more wealth than atleast 3 micronations combined, and my actions are meaningless in regards to world activities. thus the wealth movement of a micronation is not really as powerful as that of potential media speculation it would drum up, which itself is less powerful than the potential wealth movement by getting the world to accept bitcoin

so if each of us get our own local stores to accept it so that our own lives are secure, then on balance that would make the whole world bitcoin acceptable. rather than trying to get small islands of a couple dozen inhabitants to use it, porely for media speculation

for instance if you see a local fruit and veg market stall in your town, ask them about their supplier and get both the local supplier and market stall to accept bitcoin and then get your local landlord/rental agent, 7-11 type stores, repair stores, etc to accept it too.

its far better to first secure your own lives and not wait for others to do it for you.. then to waste years trying to change other peoples lives which wont affect you or much of the 'big picture' of the whole bitcoin economy.

unless a micronation has natural resources the world needs then the bitcoin demand for that nation is too small in comparison to getting walmart to accept bitcoin

if you really want micronations to get into bitcoin, try speaking to their mainland suppliers so that the micronation doesnt need to convert to native fiat, but can use bitcoin. instead.

but i still think that too many people are waiting around sitting on their hands waiting for others to do something that will then get media to do something, which will then affect other peoples bitcoin decisions.. everyone needs to do their own little part and then the result would be better bitcoin usage for all, rather then a 15 minute media speculation article.

You realise the word micro means small right?

I mean you might have a larger cohort to interest in cryptocurrencies if you went after surviving WWII veterans who lost exactly 3 toes or something.

But on the other hand, the Flashmanian Minister of Internal affairs is in agreement with the Flashmanian Foreign Minister, Prime Minister and Department of Justice that all internal transactions and as much import purchasing as is practicable, should be performed in bitcoin.

Black, white, purple and even Mexican... Bitcoin doesn't care if you are king of the world or just a homeless dude in the streets.  If you give away your secrets to someone who isn't trust worthy... you're fucked.

The best kept secret is your own.

The fact is that he could earn his stolen coins back very easily if he can just be convinced and gets over the butthurt from getting pwned.

Maybe if multiple Micronations use Bitcoin it could strengthen their economic abilities.

we do understand that micronation sometime just only a joke but still they have a community and even fans in around the i think if bitcoin accepted to the micronations community it will be nice to bitcoin to get more more popular

Well thank fuck for that, I just discovered that there's a possibility that Barrack Obama is my 17th cousin and was worried it might get out.

are you talking about the popularity of 200 people on a small sealand property, or the popularity of readers in an article of a news paper after using such efforts purely for publicity.

how about if each person got just 2 shops in each of their own hometowns to accept bitcoin
(multiplication effect is that many thousands of people will be using bitcoin(merchants) and that would then help to bring the many millions of people around the world to use bitcoin because they can use it at their local grocery store.
ontop of that if each person reading this got their local media outlet (paper or TV) to promote the local bitcoin adoption in your own towns. then the publicity will also be multiplied across the world and last longer than 15 minutes.

micronations impact on the world is negligible.. and although bitcoin is useful, its way better to get bitcoin adoption in area's where people really want it first. (such as your own town).

after all, having a news article where 200 people convince sealand to accept bitcoin will leave readers thinking.. hmm 'well us readers still cant use it locally and sealand usage is small, so bitcoin is still just a gimmick'.

but imagine atleast 400 retailers popping up knowing that would cause atleast 200 news articles and people of those 200 towns seeing that they can indeed use bitcoin locally, and thus try it. which then snowballs into groups of people in each of those 200 towns coming together to expand bitcoin in each of their towns and come up with new business idea's which are not easily as possible on the FIAT business model.

such as street markets where market stall owners can take electronic payments with just a scan of a QR code. no card readers, no payment processor subscriptions, etc etc.

if only more people thought about increasing bitcoins coverage and less about the glamour of seeing the word bitcoin in a news article. bitcoin would begin the 'mass adoption' phase alot sooner.

i can easily pay a few of the top media outlets to advertise bitcoin, but if the readers response is simply "well i cant use it locally" then its money wasted. so lets push bitcoin where it really needs to be pushed.. ie merchants, NOT media.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
