You can get bitcoins pretty fast at https://bitwallet.cc , it's a peer-to-peer platform where you buy from other users with escrow protection.

Can anybody vouch for this?

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.

If you are going to play around with bitcoin forget the Canadian exchanges. They are ok to cash out with if you can supply a selfie of yourself coming out of your mother's womb.

Cavirtex is getting sued for 880 thousand dollars I hear so who knows when/if the "we got hacked" story will come out.

The others have such little volume you will pay a higher price for coin.

Just as easy or easier to get verified at the big guys and pay less. Bitstamp, Kraken, btc-e, cryptsy, etc.

There is a thread devoted to exchange reviews.

I was recently in Canada for a few months and purchased bitcoins using the site : quickbt.
They have a small fees, but are convenient and fast. Also, they don't allow buying more than 0.2 BTC at once.
You could also use paypal or localbitcoin to buy it.

Quadrigacx https://www.quadrigacx.com is the best in most of the time in CAD and USD trade and VaultofSatoshi https://www.vaultofsatoshi.com follows in my opinion.

Quickbt is easily 10% above Stamp. Big premium!

If you can't find someone on here you trust, stick with Localbitcoins is my advice

That is true, and might be a problem for people buying large amounts. But, I have never needed a large amount, and they don't offer more than 0.2 BTC, so didn't have a big issue.
But if:  cavirtex has much less fees, and is reliable, I guess thats the way to go then .

If you only want a few bits for gambling or trading, then Quickbt is easy and little in the way of verification is required. But I want moar;)

Does Cavirtex have a limitation on the amount you can purchase? QuickBT had a limitation as it only allowed 0.2 to be purchase at a time.

In my experience online purchase limits depend entirely upon the level of verification and KYC/AML BS you are prepared to put up with

I guess it's no, but i never use cavirtex since i's not bades in canada. and i think if you have usd, you can buy cheaper bitcoin on global exchange, it's very good and easy to do so both on lakebtc and bitstamp which they are bitcoin exchange indeed with no any gambling tools.

cavirtex has ridiculous fees / rules and holds; quadrigacx has caught up in terms of volume / depth and is pretty good.

I think cavirtex is still the best choice for canadians, in addition you can consider to global exchange.
