BTER TOTP bullshit

So I upgraded my phone to a newer version (ios 7 to ios and I lost the authenticator app. I installed it now but ofcourse it didn't save my old info.
So i'm left without a TOTP for bter to log in.
I know all my other passwords , fund pass , acc pass , hell I even know the exact amount of coins I had inside my account (if that solely ain't enough to verify myself then idk what is)
I emailed bter few mins ago about my problem and they require this ;
Your username, email associated to your username, a picture of your id card and a picture of your face and id card together(holding your id card besides your face and taking a picture).

A picture of my ID card? How the fuck does that even help them? I never EVER uploaded ID card to begin with , so how in the name of fuck can that be of any value to them in regards of helping me with my account?
Are they out of their mind?

its because if ur a hacker that managed to get ur email and username and is now trying to get passed the 2factor... they can atleast have the name and address and face of said person...

think of it from the perspective os someone else trying to get your account... i bet you would then love them and thank them for doing extra checks, rather then just saying. "come on in"

Lets say a hacker got your credentials and asked Bter to change the 2FA. If they did then you would be complaining again.

Well said. You'd be complaining a lot louder than this if your coins were stolen just because they gave all your details away to a hacker. I would hope they wouldn't just reset someone's account because they knew the balance of it.

What stops you from using a photoshop'ed photo for that? That in my opinion is not a sure way of preventing a person to steal the account and the bitcoins, just a way to cover their ass.

Well why? Because I didn't put my real info on bter (who did?).
And what does it matter if I know everything about my account ? From the coins I have , to all the passwords except the fucking TOTP :@
Is it possible somehow to retrieve the old authenticator code ? I know it's linked with gmail somehow but i'm confused

i had the same issue before with bter . i lost all my data due to HDD failure so that lead to 2F authentication lost , i contacted them to rest 2FA and all the procedure went smoothly after taking the photo . just take the picture with your ID it is easy and it helps to protect your account fund.
Since then i trust bter EXG.

Yeah I could send them the ID (even though I used bitcoin because of it's anonymity and yet they will ruin that now) , but I don't even remember what address I put because I never ever put my own address
