bitcoin wallet hacked

This is my first post here, I hope this is the right section to post this.

I never really got into bitcoin, I once got a few payments through bitcoin (I used the multibit software) and then I sent a payment and never really checked my account again.

Today a friend asked me for a few dollars in bitcoin and I was going to send him what I had left and noticed it's gone from my account:

Was my wallet hacked? Is there any way to get these $9.52 back?

I know it's not much but 10 bucks are 10 bucks. And this made me reconsider using bitcoin in the future.

If you write the full public bitcoin addy for the transaction 06 Oct. then would it be possible to look a little more detailed what has happen for you.

If you did not do this transaction, then will I suggest that you check your computer for malware.

Do you have your multibit wallet encrypted? It is very important to do so in case you have some malware to steal files, although if you have also a keylogger then you are fucked... Check your computer for malware asap.

Decent protection is always required no matter if you have lot's of coins or not.

You can't blame Bitcoin for something you did wrong.

Probably work of a hacker, scan your pc and if you didn't encrypt your wallets before, be sure to do it now.

I don't understand why the hacker did not continue to steal funds from the OP after he received additional funds after the "hack". I would have though that the hacker would steal the OP's private key and monitor the corresponding public address for additional funds.

No, your BTC is not recoverable, that's the beauty and downfall of BTC... Once it's sent it can't be reversed.

I'am pretty sure you didn't read the thread otherwise you would know it's Multibit .
@OP I'am sure about the hacking thing mate , otherwise why wouldn't he take all the BTC on your wallet , Are you sure no one on your family have access to your PC/wallet (if it has password) ?

@OP, are you using TOR or proxy / VPN to get online ? if so, someone behind it might have stolen your credentials

Stop using that wallet.  Scan computer with virus, and malaware protection.   

Make sure you find the problem before putting a new wallet on computer.

It was Multibit. So it's something local, not an online wallet. Whatever happened was dealing with his own security, not that of someone else's.

You probably have a malware on your machine. Have you downloaded any suspicious files before the Oct 6 transaction happened?

I am afraid there is no way you can get your bitcoin back. You should check your machine for malware now.

Best way to test it, is to create some honey trapped wallets {Some wallets with small amounts} Leave it exposed. If someone starts emptying those wallets, you know you have a hacker/script kiddie lurking.

I have a lot of those on my computers and laying around in the house.... It will help you identify a threat before it's too late.

I also use a extra old computer harddrive, which I boot with, when I access wallets etc.. and then I unplug it and use my new hdd for normal browsing and daily tasks.

You will never be 100% safe... The hackers / Scammers are around every corner. Money draw them, like shit draws flies.

Consider using trezor, I have had no problems with that so far.

I would suggest use Trezor BTC wallet in future,, and then I think you do not have any problem.

As others said, it is possible that you have a malware on your computer, but there is another possible situation is that someone has a copy of your wallet file. Have you made and upload (eg. email) any unencrypted backup of your wallet in the past?
