I just figured it out.

You know how ebay owns payapl and ebay came first.

Bitcoin needs its own "ebay"

There's already Bidding Pond, and I believe another auction site I can't recall.

Ebay is an auction site.  PayPal is one of the payment methods for sending payment.  Bitcoin is another.

It is happening.

   [Click "See Full Description"] :
"For this auction I am willing to take bitcoin or paypal."

Bio: "Oh, by the way, I accept Bitcoins."

In addition to seeing Bitcoin appear in more listings and profiles, I expect to see ClearCoin start appearing as an escrow method.  Combining bitcoins for payment and ClearCoin for escrow is a combination that has so going for it.  There's almost no other alternative for affordable escrow for $100 or less purchases.  Add in the #bitcoin-otc gpg Web of Trust and there no reason these tools can't be used by a wider user base.

Ha!  What are the odds of finding $100 worth of data on those drives?  Hopefully better than the odds (0%) of recovering 2 grams of gold out of the box.  Sorry, off topic, but I had to chuckle.

For what it's worth, I'd love to see ebay offer BTC as an optional currency for sellers to specify.

I routinely ignore posters with paid advertising in their sigs.  You should too.

So I was about to post an item on biddingpond until I notices a posting fee.

It needs to be free, like craigslist or kijiji.

BiddingPond is free to list. They charge for uploading images to their server and for featuring/bolding/etc. And last I knew, every account got their first 5 BTC of listing fees free.
