I put together a web-mashup that tweets when an ebay auction contains "bitcoin(s)" in the description and or the phrase "I accept bitcoins" converted to base64, or "SSBBQ0NFUFQgQklUQ09JTlM=".

I'll gladly accept bitcoins on my ebay listings, but I'm afraid that stating this in my ad might only bring me a nasty headache  Cry

What's the headache?  People asking you "What r teh Bitcoin?"

At this early stage in Bitcoin's existence, people who accept Bitcoin are also advocates for it, spreading its message and informing the public.  Accept those questions as an opportunity to teach people about Bitcoin, thus potentially increase your customer base.  Because remember, "spending Bitcoins is like spending free money" is a decent sales pitch.

No mate, I meant potential problems with ebay. I know paypal are making a big fuss about trading with bitcoins. I'm afraid ebay would call it fraud or something like that and shut me down.

I need to see people doing it, also people telling me that I will have no problems with ebay staff, so I can gain confidence to do it!

I don't think they would shut you down without a warning first even if they cared.

If you're afraid of your auctions being shut down just put SSBBQ0NFUFQgQklUQ09JTlM= in it instead of actually naming bitcoins, right?  Isn't that what the OP is saying?

People could also find bitcoin-accepting auctions by simply searching for that combination on eBay itself.
