I won't post the thread references, there are just too many of them, but people keep on loosing their private keys. I know it does happen from time to time, but, people should be more careful. There are a few simple measures that you can take to avoid losing your private key to an HD crash or your kids getting into your PC.
Most of us have a second older pc that is unused or rarely used and usb thumb drive are easy to find. Try to export your key and store it on a thumb drive and also on your older unused pc. If you don’t have an older pc, just export the gpg private key to a thumb drive (and keep don’t lose it).
These simple measures will avoid you saying, I lost my private key but I am this person on otc or I was this person on the encrypted email etc.
If you want to grow the bitcoin economy, the end user and service providers have to take it up a notch and be responsible so that identities are not stolen or lost, I am assuming my gpg key is my identity at least on the otc, and yes I am vite at the otc also.

I've said it before, I'll say it again,

This plus This equals worry-free backup of your keys, or your wallet, or any digital info that you might need to have on multiple computers. There are other backup services, some of which encrypt your data for you, but please, use something.
