SOLD

So I have this 2nd gen (non-heatpipe) single that has kind of been thru the war. I'll probably be keeping it (nope, selling it now), but if you guys are feeling rich I might am selling it. This one has been featured in a video and immortalized in crappy pictures of mine. It runs the 872 firmware reliably, but the higher ones don't seem to work without throttling. Imgur album here: http://imgur.com/a/cALGV

Tell me what it is worth to you!

Notes - has been taken apart a few times, and might be dusty from running for several months. Stock bottom fan broke when I set it down on some stuff while it was running, so I have replaced it with a crappy smaller fan that I had laying around. Pics:

I have been assured by BFL that as long as the device works, the fan issue will not hurt the trade value.

EDIT: Selling now. SOLD

Aha, yes that announcement really did send prices tumbling off a cliff. I saw in another thread someone offering $650. Far cry from the 150, 160, 175, 190+BTCTC that was being asked and paid just a few weeks ago.

So what does everyone else think? What's the true market value of a used Single these days?

I think it is a slight over-reaction at the moment.  Even an optimistic assessment puts the ASICS at the end of the year, AT BEST.  That leaves 5 months to mine with the single, and a salvage value of say $300 at the end of the timeline.

If prices panic much further, smart money should buy.

i will +600$ to this. ;p

They still maintain the value that at upgrade time, each single will grant a 50% discount on a purchase of $1200 dollars of new gear.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

Mainly, I'm on the fence as to whether to spend $600 and upgrade later, or get ~$600 now and quit. Of course, if I sell for BTC I'm also gambling on the price per coin later in the future.

aye, atleast 600$ later also nets you any coins you mine in between now and later.

Its closely related to what a GH will be worth over the next 12 months, and good luck predicting that!
Actually, its closely related that the biggest fools will think a GH will be worth over the next 12 months, which is probably a lot more than its actually worth. My advice: get some of these people still buying mining bonds to make you an offer  Grin.

Tell me what it is worth to you!

I think my price of $799 is pretty good. I'm selling units, but it's not so low that everyone is immediately buying them all (e.g. I have a few offers for $750 for all). It seems like a good balance.

Your unit is a little worn, but it seems to work and that's all that really matters. It really only has to last until next January-March. Smiley

OK, I've decided to sell. Fjordbit, do you still want it for $799, or does anyone else want to renew their offers?

I think he was referring to his sales thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88526.msg984728#msg984728 which I forgot to leave feedback on.

Losing hundreds of Bitcoins with the best scammers in the business - BFL, Avalon, KNC, HashFast.
