Paper Wallet vs Hardware Wallet (USB)

What do you want to do?

If you want to store the coins, for years, and you want the cheapest option, use paper wallets.

If you want to store bigger amounts of coins, than you would with web wallets, and you want to use it daily, go for the Hardware wallet {Trezor}

I have known hardware wallet like silver wallet , trexor, ledgerwallet (just launch)
It's kindda cool if we have something real

I like paper wallets. Since I have started with my first bitcoins, I always had the good habit of keeping most of my coins in paper wallets. I even have an offline computer (that has never been online) just to create my paper wallets, backups, etc.

But I would gladly use a hardware wallet if I find it safe and practical enough to use.

Paper wallet is when you print out the wallet details(address,priv key) through a paper wallet generator. Its like an offline cold storage to store the coins.

I put it in my mattress and I sleep soundly.
even if it will be thief, will not know what to do!

Electronic because I get to take mine on the go with the blockchain mobile app and scan other people's QR codes

I'll definitely go for trezor since this will offer the best protection. I don't like the idea of using paper because if anything goes wrong like the paper getting wet or if the qr code ink blurred out, there is no way to recover it ever. Plus, if the private key qr code gets revealed, you can take a snapshot of it and that is all you need to access the fund.

If I had the choice between having to put all my coin on a paper wallet that was to be dunked in a puddle or go through the laundry and a hardware wallet that was to suffer the same, I'd choose paper. I would of course choose good quality paper and inks.... if you absolutely INSIST on using a crappy inkjet, write it out manually underneath with a BIC ballpen.

And this is from a guy that has reflowed motherboards in toaster ovens, brought back cellphones from being dropped in the toilet, re-animated dodo dead HDDs, de-bricked things via JTAG, in short I'm a fucking necromancer for dead electronics. If you put a modern piece of electronics into an oven and slowly raised the temperature to 200C, components would be dropping off it, if you did the same to a piece of paper, it would get a little brown, doesn't burn until about 220C and some papers are good for up to 250C... So stick either in a fire safe, have the burning house collapse on top of it, and my money is STILL on the paper..... and if this ever happens to you... and a fireman happens to kick your firesafe out of the embers, DO NOT RUSH TO OPEN IT... your paper could still be intact and HOT, but has not burned in absence of oxygen, let that shit cool RIGHT THE HELL DOWN, unless you really wanted a *poof* and it's gone moment when you open it.


IMO hardware is good safety for a "hot" wallet, not for storage.

I like more paper wallets, but I can't say what is safest. To my opininon it depends more about habits and practices.

If i wanna keep the coins aside for some time then i would prefer a paper wallet. I still have some funds in paper wallet.

I would recommend you to put your paper wallet into iron safe. (99%)
HW wallets are great too, but little bit expensive.

I personally would use a paper wallet, with the private key stored in a bank locker.

Bank locker is a bad bad idea. You are already considered an "unsecured creditor". Do not allow a totally bankrupt banking system to hold your coins as a counterparty. You are inviting risk that is unnecessary.

Besides which some states seize deposit contents frequently as "lost property", California was doing it yearly until recently.

A paper wallet is essentially the same as a USB wallet as both do essentially the same thing - store your private keys "offline"

I personally do not trust hardware wallets like trezor as the concept is still very new and the technology has not stood the test of time

i think the same..

if you want to put your wallet offline use paper wallet...
if you want to put offline, but with the possibility to restore it, use USB.
