For a while now blockchain.info have rebranded themselves as "Blockchain".

We should not refer to blockchain.info as Blockchain.

Bitcoin is confusing enough for new people without having headlines like "Hacker Returns 225 BTC Taken from Blockchain Wallets":
http://www.coindesk.com/hacker-returns-225-btc-taken-blockchain-wallets/

People might think that the Bitcoin blockchain was hacked.

This is a call to blockchain.info to rebrand themselves back to blockchain.info, or something that is not confusing. Please, do the responsible thing and end this confusion.

I tried to send this message directly to blockchain.info, but couldn't find a contact email address. So I'm raising this important issue here in the hope that the blockchain.info team see it.

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

I can kind of relate; when I was first learning what Bitcoin was, finding a website calling itself Blockchain really didn't help my understanding of how the system worked. I thought they were the official Bitcoin site or something. =P

Zalek, the problem isn't Blockchain. The problem is the shady journalism that comes out of sites like CoinDesk, who run intentionally misleading headlines because they generate more clicks. Then they have the nerve to deny responsibility and tell you to ask Blockchain to rebrand!

It's also worth noting that the headline directly above the one you mentioned reads "New Blockchain Startup Brings Contracts into the Digital Age". In this case, "Blockchain" refers to an entirely different "Blockchain". How convenient.

I agree with both puppet and Johnny, but to be honest posting here won't do anything... Perhaps try to contact them directly.

Another blockchain.info wallet has been hacked
Luckily the hacker return the bitcoin.

But, i think you are right, some people actually believed blockchain has been hacked
I think blockchain.info team should reconsider a new name.

Apple fruit & Apple mobile phone brand are very different
While blockchain.info & blockchain are similar in newbie eyes

I agree Blockchain.info should consider a new name. When I was brand new, I thought it was the official site. It's easy to mistake that. I often wonder why people leave large amounts of money there, but have to remind myself new people think it's safe, because it's official... only to find out it's not the hard way further down the line.

They are safer than many other online wallets, and completely fine for small to medium amounts. Agreed that they should not try to be branded as 'Blockchain'.

Since the private keys are on the users computer, then it must have been a weakness/malware on a local machine.
