Ah, the good ole' resisting arrest charge. Need to arrest someone but don't have anything to go on? Slap em with a "resisting arrest" charge. The justice system in the U.S. is literally a joke and nothing's gonna change any time soon. A damned shame if you ask me. What happened to "land of the free"?

bet nothing happens to him

Be radical, have principles, be absolute, be that which the bourgeoisie calls an extremist: give yourself without counting or calculating, don't accept what they call ‘the reality of life' and act in such a way that you won't be accepted by that kind of ‘life', never abandon the principle of struggle.

The most stupid charge I have ever heard was charging a guy for property damage because his blood got on their uniforms, corrupt assholes.

This is truly rich!!
Of course, I assume the charges didn't stand in court.

When the power to resist is ceded by the people, the power to kidnap is enhanced...

This would have been a shocker!!
“Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer's life if necessary.” Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306. This premise was upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case: John Bad Elk v. U.S., 177 U.S. 529.

Better if you join a private contractor working on a foreign (hostile) country. There you can really torture and kill people as much as you like and no one will even know about it. Cops can be filmed, there may be witnesses, and there's more to worry about. And they get paid less as well. Not worth the trouble.

I agree, it would certainly be another widely publicized national trial. As it is now the police officer should be brought up on criminal charges for assault and battery, and many other criminal charges...

“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).

This ruling is likely going to stand. The police still have the authority to charge you with whatever crime they wish with or without evidence and with or without you actually committing such crime. It is up to the courts to decide if you actually broke the law

The problem is that the debate over whether an arrest is legal or illegal will take place much later. You risk getting slammed with charges of 'resisting arrest'.
