He's making up excuse that the money is not available in his paypal acct till Dec 19th and won't send me the sbux card.  it's his type of account, Non-US Verify account.

DON'T BUY FROM HIM.  SOUNDS LIKE A SCAMMER.  NO COMMUNICATIONS SINCE I SENT HIM THE MONEY.

This is why you should always use escrow.

make sure you make a post in scammer accusation section with sufficient proof so other people know and do not get scammed by him.

That's what happens when you are a new PayPal account.  They hold your funds for about a week before you can withdraw them. He's probably got a stolen account anyway.  I had a similar thing a few weeks ago from another seller (probably the same guy under another name).  I sent him PayPal and he disappeared off the face of the earth.  Fortunately PayPal held his funds and sent my money back.

Bottom line is, what the hell do you expect from a place like this?  100% of the Starbucks sellers get their cards from questionable (and this us putting it gently) sources and most of the cards eventually get zeroed out if you don't use them quickly.  Escrow is meaninglless because while it might take 3 hours, 3 days or 3 months but SB does catch up with them and they can track the numbers no matter how many cards you move them to and eventually will close the card if you don't spend it quickly before they catch up.  I had one unused card zeroed after almost 3 months. That one came from eBay.  Look what happened to the seller (SBDEALER I think) who posted all over how his cards will never get zeroed because he was so special.  Roll Eyes   He sold a few that were OK and all of a sudden people are reporting their cards were shut down.  Now he locked his thread and probably disappeared leaving users stuck all over the place.  Maybe he will be back but the point is EVERY Starbucks card is questionable no matter who the source is.

Put in a dispute with PayPal.  They will hold the funds until the problem is resolved or return your money.  That's why they hold the funds from new sellers for a period of time.

Good luck.

Putting in a dispute will stop him from being able to move the paypal money. UNLESS he is a smart scammer and used master/slave paypal account scam, in which case you might be able to still get your money back, but he will also get his money (and paypal takes a loss)

PS: Next time at least use an escrow so you know that you get a card # at the very least...

So no gift card is safe if bought from questionable sources or this just pertains to Starbucks?

If you are buying something that should cost $100 for 20-60% or less (especially on forums such as this) the chances are you you will get screwed.  I have bought a lot of Starbucks cards and I am way ahead of the game so far but I have been screwed over a couple times (once on eBay and once here so far).  There is only one thing you can be 99.9999999% sure of, the cards were not obtained through "normal" legit channels.  They may work just fine and they may not.  Think of it as playing in a casino.  You win some and you lose some.

This thread is the perfect example. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=871067.0

Look at the message subject then read the messages, particularly the last 8-10 messages.

Also note that user accounts get bought and sold here like 99cent burgers at McDonald's so even "trusted" people can't always be trusted.

Bottom line is:  BUYER BEWARE.
