They are different things. One is centralized (more or less) with a dependence on "trusting" gateways. Bitcoin isn't like that. So yes- we're having some hell of a rough time price wise, but look around at the enormous ecosystem of people building their own things and you realize it's a totally different animal.

Ripple is a joke when it comes to the properties that make bitcoin stand out.
That's not to say ripple can't be used, it's just a completely different thing, you can't really compare them imho.

creating ripple coins out of thin air is the same thing as printing usd out of thin air and that strategy is in the midst of it's failure.
the fed had to stop doing the straight out QE printing because everyone was about to start losing confidence in the usd dollar.
so then they outsourced printing QE to belgium and then to japan and we are watching japan's sinking QE printing ship.
ripple is a scam coin that will not be able to compete against a gold backed currency which likely we will see come out of the brics nations.
even if all the central banks adopt xrp doesnt mean it's going to succeed because the central banks are in midst of failure as well.
