So ive come to some confusion over the last week or so while seeing the BTC sign used both in front and behind a number.

I personally believe that it should be used at the $ sign would be and put it before the number such as BTC1.

however, ive also seen numerous times people believe it should be used after the number as this is: 1BTC.

Opinions? Thoughts? Discuss.
The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

I prefer units go after the number. Meters, liters, grams, ohms, bitcoins. 10m, 10L, 10g, 10BTC, 10Ω

Well, most conventional currencies use the symbol as the prefix. I like it that way. I wish the BTC was smaller by default, like this: BTC

I agree that it is a bit(pun!) too big, but hell, the fact that Theymos made it it enough for me, im not complaining.

I believe the placement depends on which language your are writing in.

The Euro sign is placed different in different languages:

Look at this:

ABBTCCDEFG  vs.  ABBTCCDEFG

The BTC symbol is not too big, it is just bold. I don't know why someone thought that a bold symbol will be better than a normal one.

It's still a bit too big with bold letters surrounding it.

Relevant.

-There are exceptions, but a currency sign typically appears before the quantity, with fractional division signs coming in the middle of afterwards.
-For abbreviations, such as USD, CHF, BTC, LTC (or ŁTC), the placement of the abbreviation is more based upon local convention. Many banks write USD3.20 but many people write 3.20 USD.

So, ultimately up to us! I believe that in front is more appealing to a broader audience.

I use it how I say it in my mind. [I'm selling 2 bitcoins - I'm selling 2 BTC] I don't know if the {s} should be involved with the acronym of the BTC when there are more than one included in the subject, like [I'm selling 2 bitcoins - I'm selling 2 BTCS]

I do this as well. 'BTCS' looks goofy to me. The exception however would be using the more specific symbol, in which case I display before the value.

5 BTC or BTC 5.

I have moral objections to BTC imitating the dollar sign. Bitcoin is better than that. Therefore, the symbol should come after the quantity. Grin

The french canadians write the dollar sign after the amount. (100,00 $ instead of $100.00)
