I am now actually locked in my room with a bowl of cornflakes and my laptop to do work because now I have to face the inevitable swarm of family members that make the house feel extremely small and force you to make polite small talk and even if you do the shopping early it still feels like it's a rush to get everything done by Christmas day.

Honestly, I could do without presents if it meant I could do all my work and game in peace :S things aren't as bad this year thankfully but it's still a case of "Too many people gtfo out of the house!" >_<

Also posting some Bill Maher up to illustrate my point, oh and for fucks sake the Christmas music! Not to mention strictly come dancing.

Christmas is famous world wide holiday, except may be muslim countries, nowadays it is more shopping holidays. Especially in Germany - there are Christmas markets and so on. And yes, in Christmas you can do some home work too with laptop e.t.c. Grin

I see what you're saying. It isn't too much of a bother to me, but it is a nice "break" from my routine. Besides, I actually have fun buying presents for my family. I see how it can get annoying or too intrusive, though.

Christmas times is the most stressful time of the year, it's a very shitty holiday. All about shopping, 90% of us have dropped the jesus shit (yeah pulled the number out of my ass).

Turn off the news and read. Watch Psywar, learn something important about our society and PR, why and how it got started and how it brainwashes you.

So trips doubling in time when you just want to go out any buy some food doesn't bother you? Tongue

Same here.

I don't like the people who come and stay for hours and hours... With christmas it's 2 days like this, Pfffff...

I prefer to go outside or just stay in my room for some hours.

Well, I buy most presents (if not everything) online, so that doesn't really happen to me.  Wink

When I said buying presents for others was fun, I was mostly referring to the part where they open them, not the actual buying process. That can sometimes get tedious.

Forever strong.

Christmas is about your family. It's not about gifts and these sorts of things.

Well we think alike on this matter. I don't really give a fuck. I don't even like the people that I live with (parents/family).
If I get a present I'll tell them to either return it or take it for themselves.
I don't want things, I want to be left alone in peace/to do my own things.

Christmas is about your family. It's not about gifts and these sorts of things.
Wrong. Such holidays only boost sales, that's what it's about to the people in charge. Family is useless. Theoretically you could have been my brother/sister it is all coincidence.                                                    Blood relatives are the same as just any other person to me.

Is it bad I'd be absolutely happy about that if I were in your position? Tongue

This is an accurate portrayal of the wife and I trimming the xmas tree. OK, OK, I'm just interested in getting some trim.

I hope you all get some snow this year and have a merry white xmas.

Yeh I hate christmas too. I think the whole family get together thing is forced and most relatives only make the effort because they just feel obliged. If they gave a shit they'd see you a lot more than once a year. Bah humbug.

Exactly. It's all pointless and such relatives are useless. I'm in a better relationship with a few people that I barely know, even from this forum.

I opted out of Christmas several years ago and feel all the better for it. It doesn't have to be compulsory.
