I want to share the economic freedom bitcoin with my Nieces and Nephews this year for Christmas. They're all highschool/college age so should, with a little instruction, be able to start using relatively easy.
I have purchased some USB flash drives, and intend to put a wallet with some bitcoin on the flash drive for them.
What is the best way to do this?

Well, actually you could create some paper wallets with any amount and then tell them to scan the QR code to redeem the bitcoins in their phone.

I would have a paper wallet and show them how to import it one day when they want to use it.
It really depends on how much they know about bitcoin. Also might share about being careful with wallet. I think it is a neat idea.

A paper wallet with some btc on it. Ask the parents to keep it in a safe place for them. May just be worth something one day.

You must share your knowledge about bitcoin to them and ask to keep safe. That is the best way for them and maybe they will learn more about bitcoin

I agree with what the other users are saying about the paper wallets; if you use a desktop wallet/any other sort of wallet, they may have to do installations, and that may be tedious, particularly since they're going to be new to the concept. Wish I had a family member that was giving me the gift of BitCoin haha. What a good uncle!

Paper wallet. Maybe some sort of gift card, but only if you find a nice template for it. You should really create and print them yourself. And, if possible and if the amount is not small, laminate those paper wallets.

USBs would be fine, but I think designing them a nice christmas themed paper wallet or card with a qr logo on would be a nicer present. Make sure they know what they're doing though or they'll likely just lose them or something.

Using CoinBase would be your best bet, since 1.) It's really popular among the Bitcoin Community 2.) Paper Wallets are more attractive and are physical so they'd like that better
You can also help them out by showing them how they can buy anything they want on the internet Show them where they can get the stuff they want using the Bitcoins you gave them
It's like having them choose what they'll get for Christmas Pretty exciting and hopefully attract attention for Bitcoin

I disagree about the paper wallets. If someone is new to Bitcoins and receives a paper wallet, it's likely that he'll simply toss it in a drawer and redeem it for USD in a few years if it's worth more.
I think that setting them up a wallet which contains a relatively small amount would be a better way for the one of receives the gift to actually use his coins.

I've actually tried that once but they'll just think you're some nerd trying to get them to join your little posse. Paper wallets seem to be more attractive cuz they're more customizable and they can actually do what they WANT to do with it, will make them WANT to research on what they have, after you tell them the value, and CONVINCE them to make a wallet. It's somehow a win-win thing I think. Well that's just my opinion.

It would be important to give the person instructions on how to setup a wallet after giving the paper-wallet though.

I mean give them a short instruction about redeeming the private key (e.g. "Download the App "Blockchain.info" and click "Sweep key" etc.). It has the best learning effect so that people instantly know what is Bitcoin and how to use it.
