When you buy in coins such as Bay, Esc, xst, opal, how can you tell whether you are buying in the accumulation or distribution phase of the coin?

Behold, accumulation:

This being XMR, I would prepare for an immediate drop of no less than 20% over the next few days.

It varies in the world of alt coins.  For example, XC had what was considered a very stout accumulation phase with some periodic jumps and then circumstances coupled with a pronounced FUD campaign tanked it.  The price is still slowly leaking and I would still call it an accumulation phase.  They have no plans to not stop development of their road map despite the imposed (external or otherwise) delays.

XST and Bay can be considered accumulation right now, in my opinion, however they are still dependent on not only project delivery (which in the case of the former is a fine bet while the latter is a bit more risk associated) but other projects.

Strict TA in altcoin world is not a good way to view potential is pretty much my point.
