Hey  Cheesy,

I made a payment almost 50 minutes ago and it's still unconfirmed. Could this be due to the decrease in hash-rate?

Hey guys,

So I made a payment today and it's still unconfirmed. I sent this almost 50 minutes ago, could this be due to the decrease in hashrate???
https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

Whats going on?

Hmm I think it will confirmed soon.

as it says "Estimated Confirmation Time    Very Soon (High Priority)"

or did you make custom payment or just send it ?

No, I did not send a custom payment. Although, I had just received a payment before my transaction -> https://blockchain.info/tx/720f12a3171356ed15a673c1d6b00c2ca2cf26c746437a148f11f01221bd868f

The decrease in hash rate has nothing to do with confirmation time. It is either bad luck currently on the block or improper fees when sending the transaction.

The decrease in hash rate has nothing to do with confirmation time.

I dispute that. The hash rate does affect the speed of confirmations. Difficulty is adjusted to try and keep the average block time at 10 minutes.
If for whatever reason (fork?) 25+% of the network hash rate drops off suddenly then expect confirmations to be slower.

It is either bad luck currently on the block or improper fees when sending the transaction.

I agree with it being bad luck. The average time is 10 minutes but there are regularly blocks that take significantly longer (and shorter as well).

don't worry it doesn't take much time to get confirms if you set fees to 0.0001 Btc or above. i see the transaction now has 41 confirms.

sure!

enzime,
you risk to get unconfimed transaction just if you set transaction fee below 0.0001btc...
if you leave the default, who is 0.0001 btc, your transaction will be confirmed for sure!!!

the hashrate is 100 times more than we actually need (but more is better). so no, thats not the reason for your slow transaction  Smiley

Majority of my transactions take about 30 minutes to confirm. It's not unusual.

It happens.

The confirmation times are not deterministic, they can also vary.

And take into account the possibility of your block explorer having issues and not showing last blocks
