What makes the currency Islamic? Just the name? If you want to start a new cryptocurrency project then you should probably think about why. Why do you want to start this project? How can you differentiate the project or target it towards Muslims?

One suggestion I have for this project is to consider using DPOS so the Imams and officials that are paid from Zakat can be elected as paid delegates. In this way you could create a mechanism for paying Zakat inherently in the system.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zakat

You could start by forking BTS, the original DPOS chain: https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares

Also if people are disillusioned they could vote those officials out with their stake as a show of not having faith in their ability to govern.

Don't we already have Bitcoin that can be used worldwide ? And why do you need to create another currency when so many currencies are struggling for existence , let alone being used.

religions are perfectly fit todays altcoin pump and dump scheme.
religions also take money from people to give back some hope to reach heaven.
so i think yes that project perfectly suits to the scheme.

Probably the worst idea for an altcoin yet! The Muslim faith isn't exactly a popular choice in these Times is it? It will be branded a terrorist coin before you've even started!  please just quit now!

What if you could use the uniting force of crypto to unite religions? Disclaimer: I am not religious at all but find group behavior fascinating.

Considering Zakat is the fifth pillar of Islam, what if you made a blockchain that could technically achieve this in an opt in manner? Would that not allow any practicing Muslim to fulfill their religious obligation without the state? Consider if you could market this as a way to unite the common people in divided sects of Islam, the divides of which are perpetuated by extremism? You could call the project Tawhid (توحيد‎), which means "oneness" or "unity".

This is the power of DPOS. Don't like how the structure of an organized institution your involved with functions? Create your own sovereign blockchain and opt into a society!

Bitcoin and BitShares are both doing this with monetary systems, but why stop there? I find it hard to understand the whole Bitcoin maximalism concept. Sure the community is rife with scams, but there are a lot of legitimate projects bringing real innovation to the space. Many opportunities and much potential are yet untapped.

Just because people are quick to associate anything to do with Muslims to terrorism doesn't mean it is right. Why not use DPOS to help unite the sects of Islam?

If you can unite smaller disjointed groups with these technologies, i.e. Christian sects that don't play nice either, it will only be easier to then work towards the logical conclusion of peace for all, including between the religious and non-religious.

Why dismiss potential to change the world so quick without an attempt? Take a note out of Satoshi's book and think outside the confines of today.

Believe me I'm open minded to all of that, but the facts are the Muslim faith has been dragged through the mud! I sympathize with all the real Muslims out there that these extremists are turning people against the Muslim faith, even though 99.9% of Muslims are peaceful and very decent people. But unfortunately as far as society goes anything religious is not a niche that people will adopt! Do market research and see for yourself! As far as coins go the words 'Islamic' and 'decentralised' going together will open you up to all kinds of shit, so I personally would not buy!

I agree with you, it would be probably be met with resistance from all manner of organizations. I think of a Zakat DAC as a freedom tool. Sharedrop it around Muslim populations globally. Muslims who are disillusioned could choose to pay their tax via the system instead of to central authorities as a way to say they are fed up with the way things are being managed. It could be used as a consensus tool across a broad demographic of Muslim populations that choose to opt in and a show of unity across splintered factions and feuding groups.

Anyways OP GL with your project and if you choose to make a DAC please join us over at the BTS forum.
