Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

$50 each + $5 shipping each, throw away (or recycle) the boxes to make shipping cheaper.

Wow, I haven't seen any go that low yet, and I'm not really interested in being the first.

How about $85 shipped?  What's your zip code?

So everyone else knows - I'm not really interested in trading for other GPUs.

Yeah I'm more interested in their electrical efficiency, MH/W.

I can see the dollar value and also realize they are nice mid level gaming cards, so my thought was I might mine them until the ASIC pyramid scheme hits and then build and sell some budget gaming PC's.

Thanks.

the only GPU thing better MH/W is 5770. These are best in that regards. Lots of old threads where we crunched a shit ton of numbers on them.

Sorry, but 5830's are far from the most efficient in terms of MH/W

I think the most efficient card for MH/$ -AND- MH/W is the 6870.

Per card, my 6870s are 2.55 MH/watt
For one of my rigs with 4x 6870 is over 2.2 MH/watt

My 5770 is a nice entry level card, and it is more efficient than a 5830, but it is nowhere near as efficient as my 6870.

PM me if you need hosting for your FPGA or ASIC miner.  Secure, air conditioned facility... will beat competitor pricing.  Over 15 years in the hosting industry.

You've never mined on a 5830 @0.95V, have you? It's a beautiful thing. Also, 2.2MHs/watt isn't anything to write home about, at this point.

Lastly, don't forget about the 77xx cards. Both the 7750 and the 7770 are around 3MHs/W, and can be bought around the $100 range.

I'll revive this, at some point 5xxx cards will go this low.  This may be the month.  $60 each shipped $1,440 for the lot.

I have, but it certainly wasn't more than 2.55 MH/watt per card.  And not all would run undervolted stable at decent speeds.  So how many rigs with 4 5830s do you have running undervolted to .95?  What's the MH/w of each of those rigs?  It doesn't work for me to look at what one special gpu can do, I needed 40+ gpus for my farm.

Why would the 77xx cards even enter into this conversation?    I'm talking about cards that have been available for almost 2 years.  Also, the 7750/7770, in terms of density, are no good for a multi-gpu rig(like the 5770).  I'm not trying to prove which card is the best for mining.I'm just correcting your incorrect statement that 5830 and 5770 are best for MH/w.

For large scale miners the 5830 has always been a power hog.  They only perceived advantage was MH/$, but the 6870s could be had for $145 shipped when people were paying $130 for 5830s.

these still easily sell for $100 on eBay, just look at the completed listings (and remember that the price shown doesn't include S&H unless it's stated as being free)

after taking away eBay and paypal fees, you'd still be looking at around $90.  $90 is a good price for a single unit, i think it'd be pretty nutty to go below $75 per even in bulk

the four most recent:

july 7th - $105

july 7th - $115

july 7th - $97
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sapphire-Radeon-HD-5830-Xtreme-/221062899183?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item33786025ef#ht_500wt_1182

july 6th - $109

the first 3 are used, the 4th is a refurb
