he makes 90 million a day. he lives in switzerland and he pays 200K a year in taxes.

i find both parts of this story interesting.

In the end, I think that guy did a nice job. Ikea is known about all across the world. However, not always in a positive way I think. Here in the Netherlands many people will see the stuff of Ikea as cheap (which is positive, especially for the Dutch), but also often as a lower quality.

i watched a documentary on youtube about the 1%. his name is Ingvar Kamprad. the guy is worth 53 billion. 90 million a day is not that hard to believe for a guy who is worth 53 billion.

nope, would you? nope. i doubt very much she makes enough in tips to not be considered the working poor. i think it's a big scam they work for $2 an hour and have to "hope" for tips.

I agree. They should fight for higher wages. Here in Alberta we have a minimum wage, and people who serve alcohol get $2 less than that. Most everyone is OK with the system, because it's understood that most people tip.

in new jersey they are fighting for higher wages. they were only asking for something around $1.40 increase. the governor rejected it and it pushing for $1 increase spread out of the course of 3 years. so that's like 33 cents a year raise. not nearly enough to keep up with inflation.

It's not a guy, but an old people which has more of 80 years I guess. But, It's nothing of new that big company like IKEA find some method to avoid taxes and pay less possible. See Google for example, he find a very good way for not pay no one country Grin

USD$90M/day is a ridiculous figure and completely unjustifiable. Regardless of whether you use the $42B Bloomberg figure or the $3.7B Forbes figure for his networth, he doesn't make $92M/day unless you look at some single day stock price change.

If he "made" $90M/day for a year, that would add $33B to his network. According to Bloomberg he's lost $8.6B in his networth in 2014.

the documentary i watched was from 2012 so i'm sure the numbers will vary. i found this article interesting. i guess different people have different views regarding what counts towards your worth. he may have 4 billion in cash and 40 billion in assets. who knows how these people come up with these numbers but i will bet you my ass the guy didn't lose 49 billion. he has it stashed away somewhere and spread out over multiple investments.
