Funny side note, he checks out his Swedish retirement check every month.
And when he shows in the medias he always drives an rather old Volvo station car.
Much poor Cheesy

from what i hear he is a froogle old man who lives a very modest life style compared to his wealth. he is more about working hard and making it than spending it and flaunting it.

That image would certainly make tax avoidance much less complicated.

Yes

his public image doesn't matter.

Well... There is a lot of politics going on behind the scene about Ikea/Kamprad as a brand.

Nevertheless IKEA is not owned by any person or entity linked to Sweden. Nevertheless when a new Ikea opens in a country then is the local Swedish ambassador often invited to open the center. Should really be the ambassador of Lichtenstein, but I guess he is too busy Cheesy
Also amazed about of the use of Swedish flags outside IKEA shops, when IKEA today has nothing to do with Sweden?

What is IKEA?

And I don't watch super rich people's lives.

It would be like a dog in front of a butchery looking everything he will never have and I have higher priorities in life.

IKEA is a furniture company. They're supposed to be affordable and look good. Their products come as flat packs which you then assemble yourself. Shame we don't have them here in New Zealand. And even if we did, they'd probably be overpriced as hell.

And yeah, $90 million a day is completely unreasonable. That's about a billion dollars every ten days. Or $33 billion a year. Not a single person in this world makes that kind of money. Not even Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, etc.

Also an interesting thing I found is that the founder of IKEA (Ingvar Kamprad) was 17 years old when he started the company.

Here is the part from Wikipedia about his net worth:

Quote from: Wikipedia
According to Swedish business weekly Veckans Affärer,[6] he is one of the wealthiest people in the world. This report is based on the assumption that Kamprad owns the entire company, an approach that both IKEA and the Kamprad family reject. Kamprad retains little ownership in the company, having transferred his interest to Stichting INGKA Foundation and INGKA Holding as part of a complex tax sheltering scheme that leaves his actual degree of control vague.[7]

In March 2010, Forbes magazine estimated his fortune at US$23 billion, making him the eleventh richest person in the world. A year later, he fell from 11th place to 162nd after his lawyers produced documents that prove the foundation he created, and heads, in Liechtenstein owns IKEA, and its bylaws bar him and his family from benefiting from its funds.[8] In October 2012, Kamprad was listed as the fifth wealthiest person in the world in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with an estimated net worth of $42.6 billion.[9] As of February 2014, Kamprad's net worth was reported by Forbes to be $4.2 billion.[1]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DT-DTQke58&feature=youtu.be&t=18m55s

Unfortunately, my current Internet connection isn't good enough for videos but could he be confusing IKEA profits with revenue? IKEA had a revenue of €28.5 billion EUR which converts to $35 billion USD in 2013 which approximately works out to $90 million per day. Not all of the revenue would end up as profits, however, since IKEA also has expenses (e.g. advertising, electricity, wages, raw materials) that need to be paid. This would be subtracted from the revenue and whatever is remaining (i.e. the profits) would actually be his to keep.

he could be referring to the business, but he is speaking about the person, and his words are "he has gained 90 million every day this year."

i find both parts of this story interesting.

Yes, he's a real genius in entrepreneurship and finance.

The sad part is that he's not able to enjoy life  Sad

i watched a documentary on youtube about the 1%. his name is Ingvar Kamprad. the guy is worth 53 billion. 90 million a day is not that hard to believe for a guy who is worth 53 billion.

Edit: as per wikipedia - "Net worth US$4.1 billion (June 2014)[1]"

Ikea has a revenue of 28 billion euro. But not just for 2014. That's the whole net worth of the company. Net income for 2013 is 3.3 billion. Don't get financial data from shows on TV, unless you watch bloomberg.

Worth 53 billion means the market cap of his company. It's a fictional (comparative) term. It doesn't mean he has 53 billion cash. Making 90 million a day is impossible. Apple makes less than that. And Ikea cannot compare to Apple.

And who are you to say that? Give me one example of a person deserving money. Money are not given by merit. Anyone who can make money deserves it. Doesn't matter what you think.

About the 90 million a day - its bullshit. He doesn't make 1/10 of that. After taxes HIS CORPORATION makes ~70 million EUR/day. However when the pay salaries, taxes, expenses of all sorts he is left with 6Million EUR/day.

Thats not PROFIT though. Its revenue. It's an accumulated revenue since the company was started.

IKEA got big by taking advantage of cheap forced prison labour in Eastern Germany in the 1980s. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/17/business/global/ikea-to-report-on-allegations-of-using-forced-labor-during-cold-war.html?_r=0

They likely won't survive mass adoption of 3D printers, if they and the materials become cheap enough. You could just download schematics for whatever IKEA furniture and produce it yourself.
